What Is Self Knowledge?

"What lies before us and what lies behind us are small matters
compared to what lies within us. And when we bring what is
within out into the world, miracles happen."

- Henry David Thoreau

As the words themselves proclaim, Self Knowledge is knowledge of what we truly are; it is the ultimate answer to the perennial question "Who am I?"
I AM is the ultimate fact. It is obscured from cognition by an acquired ego-centered personality.
In an age of social, political and economic uncertainty, Self Knowledge brings a declaration of hope, peace of mind and freedom from all fears.
Self Knowledge has existed from the dawn of human history, for every human being has the innate awareness of their own existence. It is the most fundamental of all studies relating to humankind, and in living Self Knowledge, the human potential for fullness of life, inner peace and everlasting happiness is revealed.

We'll be back...

Today's Outfit - 11/29

A brack retro style jacket, a blue knit skirt from the 80's and a 60's (or 70's) graphics style printed shirt.

STRESSED OUT!!!!

Today was a very difficult day at work!
I felt so stressed out that I become feeling sick.
My things to do list was huge and my schedules were tied. I leave somethings for tomorrow that I must finish this week.
Next week I'll be out of work on a professional training.
Although just enough stress can be a good thing, stress overload is a different story - too much stress isn't good for anyone.
Everybody was calling me, I start feeling overwhelm.
So tonight is time to rest and trying to relax, therefore I'm not writing much.

Today's Outfit - 11/28

This morning I had a work meeting . So I needed a more classic look. But I put on it some yellow to sunny my day.

Been vegetarian…

“If a person does not harm any living being…
and does not kill or cause others to kill-
that person is a true spiritual practitioner.”

-Dhammapada (The Buddha)

There are many reasons why people go vegetarian, from health to ecological and religious concerns, compassion for animals, belief in non-violence, for economic reasons or purely because they dislike the taste of meat. There are, also, many different forms of vegetarianism.

Me, I’m an Ovo-lacto vegetarian, who occasionally eat some seafood. Well, because of that, strictly speaking, I couldn’t tell that I’m a really vegetarian. But it’s so occasionally that I’ve no problem in telling that I’m vegetarian.

One might ask “Why? What are your reasons?” I would answer “That’s a life Philosophy!”

We’ll be back on this…. I guarantee!

The Chocolate Season

The high season of chocolate that will try us for next Christmas has opened! In Germany, a country with great traditions, the production of chocolate has already started and on a large scale a little everywhere.

The temptation will be great and time is getting short!

Today's Outfit - 11/26

Black, Grey and Mustard, with some hidden Purple

Fernando Pessoa

Did you hear about Fernando Pessoa?

He was a Portuguese poet that has published his works under three different names; moreover, behind the three names seemed to hide three totally different personalities: Alberto Caeiro was an apparently simple, symbolist poet, Ricardo Reis was a follower of the classical ancient style while Alvaro de Campos was a pure modernist.

The three men were all brilliant. Pessoa handled his "multiple" personality with an infinite awareness. He needed Caeiro, de Campos and Reis for solving out all his creative moves that happened to be definite alike and valuable alike.

I leave you with one of his poems.

Happiness requires bravery

"I might have flaws, live anxiously and sometimes be irritated but, I do not forget that my life if the World’s biggest company, and I can avoid it to bankrupt.
To be happy is to recognize that it is worth living, besides all challenges, incomprehension’s or crisis. To be happy is not to let ourselves beat by the problems, becoming an author of our own history.
To be happy is to cross deserts outrageously, but to still be able to find your own oasis in the deepest of your soul.
It is thanking God each morning for the miracle of life. To be happy is not to be afraid of your own feelings. To be happy is to speak about your personality. To be happy is to have the guts to hear a “NO”. Is to have the security hearing a critique, even that it is unfair.
And if I have rocks on my way, I shall keep them all.
Someday, I will build up my own castle…”

What am I gonna wear?

My husband is a sweet one!!

Today morning I told him "- Love, help me dressing...."
He answers me "- What? Have you got something in your hands?"
Of course that wasn’t what I meant.
He knew it, but he was joking with me.
We laugh.

Usually we laugh a lot. And I love him a lot.

Call from abroad

I had a call, a call from abroad.

It was my sister. I love when we talk. Either it's small girl's talk or deep talk.

My sister and her family are abroad...

But you sister

You are important to my memory's functioning
and to keep my integrity
You are the mirror of my past
You'll be a witness in my future
I think there is an eternal complicity that sustains us!
Any success that I can get... I have to celebrate with you
I don't want to make it too late to show that .... I love you!

Ankle boots

I love my new ankle boots.
It was love at first sight.

Don't you like them?

Happy Birthday Mommy

Today is my Mother's birthday.
She's suffering from Alzheimer's disease.
Now she knows me well, eventually if one day she doesn't, what matter is that I'll be knowing that I'm her daughter and I'm part of her memories

Thinking...

"..Thinking is an inner dialog, a silent self-conversation .."
"..The capacity to think demonstrates that, alone, a human does not constitute a 'unity' .."
"..The silent dialog of the I with itself actualizes an originary duality, the difference between me and me ... [which] renders futile every search for a so-called identity." from: Christina ThĂ¼rmer Rohr

What do you think of it...?

My first post

Hi, and thanks for stopping by.
Since I've been reading and discovering so many fantastic blogs, of all kinds, I thought it was about time for me to start posting too.
I’m not really being original, I mean there are already hundreds of blogs telling their view. Of course I’m aware of that. I’m not trying to compete with them. It is just a pleasure to have one of my own and that’s enough.
I’m a Capricornian forty-something “girl”, who’s still trying to find her way around.
And when you haven't started the journey it feels hard - it feels like a true mystery. You don't know where to start. But when you have once gotten the hang of some of those threads, you start to realise what it is about. It is about knowing yourself. All self-knowledge is like a path you have to walk on to learn.
With a social sciences degree, I’ve interests of all kinds. In spite of been rational and logical I’ve an interest in the esotericism. Vegetarian, Reiki practicing, I also like shopping, fashion and style.
I really like the idea of mixing and matching textures and looks, clashing colours. That's what I'm trying to do with my outfits. Well my figure isn’t Moss-Perfect, but I always try to achieve elegance.
“Elegance is not the prerogative of those who have just escaped from adolescence, but of those who have already taken possession of their future.”
"Elegance is refusal. Refusal to follow others. Aptitude to be yourself" the legend tells Coco Chanel once stated.
So, if we all can learn to know ourselves, we all can be elegant.
I hope you'll enjoy my posts that will have mostly to do with my interests.
Okay... so this is gonna be my blog... we'll see how this is gonna work out..
