Óbidos

Óbidos is one of the jewels of the Portugal’s crown, not only by the vast natural and the built heritage that has, but also by the large existing cultural dynamism. For all this, Óbidos and its Castle are one of the 7 Wonders of Portugal!
In the houses painted white with blue or yellow, are clearly medieval traits, such as doors and widows, and every step arise picturesque spots of old flavour. Everywhere, churches, extremely tough facades, “Manueline” windows and traces historical and monumental are complemented by polychromatic flowers and creepers that give life to this Earth of Kings.
With a traditional drink called "Ginjinha de Óbidos", a sort of Cherri’s Liquor, this liquor has a strong flavour, intensely perfumed with the bittersweet of sour cherries.
From dark red colour, the liquor has two distinct varieties: the liquor simple and liquor with fruit inside sometimes flavoured with vanilla or a stick of cinnamon.
This liquor can be drink in a chocolate cup.
From painting to architecture, food crafts, through the beautiful landscapes, the conquest stories, through love and unloved by kings and queens and mystery of a past, Óbidos is a place of mandatory passage.

Do you remember sister?

going to the movies...

We went to the cinema to see "The Bucket List", with two Oscar-winning actors with gifts for comedy and drama.

For those whose cinematic tastes require character development, authenticity humanity and believability "The Bucket List" didn’t hit the mark. The saddest thing about "The Bucket List" is its wasted potential.

However is a touching drama that will leave you with the most important realization in life, never forget to value the things that truly matter to you.
Find your joy and give joy to those around you.
We should learn to appreciate the good things and let go of those that hurt and anger us.

modelling…

DLD – Daniela Lopes Design is a local islander fashion designer who is building her career.
In a beneficent event Daniela Lopes is going to present her collection and pieces she had designed.
Among them is my wedding dress. Therefore she invited me to participate in the runway.
I’m feeling so flattered about this, yet so frighten.
However I don’t know if I can go, because since I’ve lost some weight I don’t know how the dress is fitting me, and we don’t know if there’s time to make some arrangements.
This event will take place on April 5.

(I only will come home on April 2, at night)

mobile internet service

I’m having many troubles with my mobile Internet service here at Ericeira.
I can’t see the entire pages and I can’t reach the comments pages.
As soon as I’ll have this problem solved (when I'll leave from here) I promise I’ll check all your blogs and catch up the news.

more thoughts…

What life is this, so full of stress that doesn’t allow us to rest, to be peacefully enjoying a time far from the each day environment?
Why can’t I clear my mind with the daily problems?
We don’t leave problems behind… We can put them to our backs, but as soon as we bound they all fall in front of us.

thoughts…

What makes an islander leave the island and go to a place to rest, “to recharge batteries”, near the sea?
Is that because the sea makes the connection between the earth and the sky?
Is that because the sea amplifies feelings and moods?
Why this duality that makes us feel free and yet prisoners?
The sea is the wall and nevertheless the road.

At Ericeira Village

time to relax….

Now we take tree days to relax, to meditate, to be just me and my husband, far from the everyday environment that we are used to.
So we came to Ericeira village. We leaved from Peniche after lunch.
My husband drove all the way. Well he has been driving everyday since we arrived here. We have rented a car at the airport. That’s a good thing, because this way we have so much mobility.

I’m having troubles with my mobile Internet service here. I don’t know if I would post this, but I’m trying….

Oh, I must tell you that I’m very sad about something that happen me.
I was placing in order all those bags to leave my mother in law’s house ordered, when I realized that I’ve lost one of my shopping bags.
It was a bag of H&M with a pair of pants and two tops. I must have leaved it in another store or even in the restaurant’s zone.
I’m very sad because of the things and the money I’ve lost.
I’m in doubt about what to do. My husband wants me to buy again the same things, but I don’t want to spend more money. Well, maybe I’ll try to find the pants once more.

Sorry all of you if I can’t check your blogs today, but things are a bit complicated.

Take care, and be happy!!!

A view of the Hotel we are staying

It's too cold to use the swimming pool

and the trip continues…

We went to a near city, Caldas da Rainha, known by having good stores, and we made a tour.
I’ve found a few things, that I bought, but I haven’t a picture of the bags because we came back later night.
Caldas da Rainha is a city turned to Sculpture. In all the squares and crossroads they have a statue.

Some pictures of the city.

We had already decided that we would go to Alcobaça, the city where my husband’s middle sister lives.
We stayed at her home for a long time, we even had dinner there. You know… family meetings….

there was another shopping center….

Monday we went to another shopping center at the capital city. Vasco da Gama’s Shopping Center.
I forgot the camera at home, but my husband took some shot with his cellular.

I’m almost done with my shopping expedition. And also with my money….

Tomorrow we will go to a near city, Caldas da Rainha, known to have some good stores.

After that we will begin our cultural trip, going to Óbidos village which I've already talked.

Afterwards we'll take tree days to rest at Ericeira in a nice Hotel. Maybe then I will start to reveal "What's in the bags".

We will come back to continue our cultural journey. I'm thinking in going to see a Contemporary Art Collection and some movies, at least.

Easter Day

Easter Day was calm and to rest.
We had a lazing morning (how I love lazing mornings) and we lunched lately.
I ate a desert… What could it be???
Off course… a chocolate cake slice. It was good… but after that I had to struggle with my guilt.

After lunch we went for a car expedition trough some places seeing the landscape and some sights. The weather is so cold!!! However sunny.

Cape Carvoeiro South Side

Óbidos is a medieval village well preserved inside of a castle walls.
We are thinking of visit it during next week, and I’ll take some pictures, because I think it’s a great place where we can feel History.

first there was a shopping center…

We went to Colombo’s Shopping Center.
I started to see the windows and the prices of the stuff I was interesting on, to know just what I could count.
I have a limited budget, so the more expensive things would be the less number of pieces I could buy.
I saw some nice brands, but too expensive. When I was searching for shoes, I saw a red and blue Dolce & Gabana’s shoes for 338 euros. OMG they were lovely, OMG they are so out of my budget!!!
So, “The Devil Wears Prada”, but who said he can’t wear H&M, Zara, Mango, Cortefiel and so on….???
It’s all about how one wears things, not what was their price tag.

I’m having troubles to find some shoes (in the limits of my budget) that I like. When I ask for them people say it’s earlier and that they’re just receiving the first pieces of the new season… Dam!! I wasn’t expecting for that.

I asked my husband to take some pictures while we were at the Shopping. The first picture he was taking the security guard came to say that people aren’t allowed to take pictures in doors.
Oh, we had so much fun as we tried to take some without being seen…

At the end we arrived “home” with some bags as you can see by the picture.
What will they contain?

random bits

Hello everyone!

Here I am just to let you know how things are going with my trip.

We had a very nice flying trip. With no turbulence. Well, the meal was awful, but….

We went to my husband’s birth city (where his mother lives) and we stayed there for the night.
Next day we went to the capital city, about 1 ½ hours by car on the highway to go see some shops and beginning to enter in the mood.
I will do a post about it.

I’m feeling sad about some human beings. I have a portuguese blogging friend who is dealing with another blogger. Why people can’t accept the others and their opinions.
We don’t know all the truth. We only know a part of it. Tolerance is the key word.
We can criticise without being arrogant. We must help the others, not humiliate them.
If we want to be heard we must respect the others, and hear them too.

By the way, as I’ve said here, sometimes my inspirations come from nature.
I can be inspirited by a flower, by a fruit or even a vegetable. However an elegant vegetable like a zucchini.
*big laugh*

I want to thank all the ones who were very kind to me saying that will miss me and will not forget me.

Hope you have a nice Easter.

Take care; I’ll be in touch whenever I could.

Today's Outfit - 03/18

This is my 100th outfit that I publish in this blog.
Well I just realise it now. If I would know it before I would produce myself for that.
I’ve tried that all the outfits were different. Well, they can be similar sometimes, but there’s always a certain different detail,
If you do a search by the label today's outfit you can see it.
So if you do that why don’t you tell me which one is your favourite?
You can do it on comments and reference by date.
If I’ll have enough answers I’ll do a pool to find the one you liked most.

Today I’ve tried these days most spoken, in the bloggosphere, colour combo.
Pink + Orange.
I really like it, but it must be done carefully. With the right tones.
So I tried it just in “baby steps”.
