Today's Outfit - 09/30

I hate the fact that there’s no enough light to make the pictures a bit better, even my skin seems red.

Oh well…. We must live with what we have… my camera is not that good…

I bought this pocket watch at a flea market in mainland, and than I set it in a necklace. I like it very much, but it has a cover that hides the pointers. I’m thinking in take it off.

Now I’m going to change my outfit to go out. Tonight I’m going to the movies with Hubby… maybe I’ll wear my faux leather pants ;)

black and white shoes - Pimkie
black fishnets - Calzedonia
winter floral print skirt - H&M
mustard blouse - Pautónia
navy blue blazer (from a suit) - mainland store

doubts...

When I started blogging I’ve done it as a way of express myself and gain confidence, to express my life philosophy, some of my ideals and thoughts. Besides it was a way of seeing me as if I was someone else, in a different perspective from the one in the mirror, trying to accept myself and also as my blog’s name says, searching the inner me. A small part of me, however, was selfishly hoping for affirmation, seeking validation and engagement with others.
As a person interested in fashion I also chose to speak about it as a part of me since my youth times. So I’ve begun to explain my ideas of daywear, showing myself. I was conscious that the way I was making my blog was going to provoke some polemic in my community. And in fact I’ve some negative criticism, still I’ve continued until today.

Today I feel I must put some questions, regarding this blog issue.

Have I improve myself for writing this blog as a person or/and in my look?
Do I have a fashion style?
If I have it, did I improve it?
Did my ideas help someone?
Did I make someone feel more confident with my fashion sense?
Did it worth to expose myself, renouncing my privacy?
Did it worth being like a D. Quixote, fighting windmills?

Maybe I’m putting in doubt all those things because my inner force it’s a bit down and I’m tired of fighting.

But one thing I’m so sure, I’ve made a lot of friends that through this time supported me with their kind words. And that I must thank.

BB award...

The beautiful (inside and out), sharp and thoughtful Hammie from Hammiesblog created the Blogie award “You are a beautiful blogger” and I was the second blogger to receive it.
It made me very happy, sentimental and grateful moreover the nice and kind words used by Hammie to whom I thank a lot.

Now this award must not stop and must be shared around the world.

But rules must be established, (so I can break them… I’m a pseudo maverick…). Since Hammie didn’t set them up we divided the launch of them.

Here are the rules:
1. The nominated is allowed to put the picture on the blog.
2. Share the love and link back to both the person who awarded you and back to the person who found this award to Hammiesblog
3. Give it to two bloggers and link to them.
4. Leave a message on those people's blog to make them aware that they're nominated.
5. You are free to pass it on again, when you are "inspired" by a beautiful post or a beautiful blog.

In the spirit of this award – “Beautiful thoughts, Beautiful words, Beautiful pictures. Finding beauty in the world, Making beauty for the world, Talking about beauty in all its permutations.” - I'm passing it to the following bloggers:

La Belette Rouge , because LBR is really one of those bloggers who are so friendly and lovely that is a pure blogosphere pleasure. Because her blog posts are like little mini books in every story she tells, insightful and autobiographical, but all the time with a great sense of humour, besides LBR does beautiful comments.

bronwyn from FashionAbility because she always posts beautiful pictures, well-researched, discovering some of the best images from past fashion and also giving us the best of the contemporary looks, trends, street style or blogger personal style. bronwyn is also a beautiful blogger concerned and friendly.

And off course I must give it back to my beautiful blogger Hammie from Hammiesblog. You know Hammie is a brave heart, with an insider point of view of the autism’s world, doing a great job to support people inside and to touch the “outsiders”. But Hammie is also a searcher for beauty, in fashion, in people… in the world. I love Hammie’s deep posts and comments, as well our insights trades.

Now let’s spread the beauty girls!!!!!

learning.....

I’m learning that one just gives visibility to the others faults when one wants to hide ones own.

I got them!!!!!

My dear readers, my blogging friends I got them!!!!!

I’m soooooooo happy with that. Those you follow my blog know that I’ve been talking about a must-have. My desperately wanted oxfords.

I knew it wouldn’t be easy, but I didn’t seat, waiting that something would fall in my head, I took some measures.
I “know” a shoes store owner, so I took a print of some oxfords and I went to talk with her, asking if she was thinking in bringing some shoes like those.
Well, she kept the pictures and told me that she would do what she could to bring me ones.

Today I went to the shoes store and she had them for me!!!!!

Well I didn’t choose them, but I like them, they’ve a varnish part, the heels have a good length, they’re comfortable to wear, I just have a doubt should I keep the shoelaces with those white stitches or should I replace them for ones all black?
What’s your opinion?

Today's Outfit - 09/22

September equinox happen today at 15:44 UTC, which means we are, in the Hemisphere North, officially in Fall!

It seems that the island weather sort of knew it because today the weather changed. Some chilly and rain take place in the day.
So…. Yeah!!! New clothes to Fall came from the wardrobe. I was trilled to wear them.

My friend T said that she liked very much my outfit, but that it didn’t seem to be me. Do you also think so? I think I did the career woman style.

I don’t remember if I’ve ever told you that I wear contact lenses, all the time. But I have a pair of glasses for an “emergency”. I put them to play the librarian.
But the picture I like most is the one I’m playing… I think I must have fun taking these pictures…

black and white shoes - pimkie
black fishnets - Calzedonia
black pencil skirt - H&M
blouse - Mango
bracelet - gift from Hubby (Tie Rack)
red lipstick - L'Oreal
perfume - Paris from YSL

Some trends I’m spotting – black and white, pencil skirt, blouse with bow, ruffles, peplum, cinched waist… too much?

"No time to lose!"

'No time to lose!' is the theme for World Alzheimer's Day - 21 September 2008.

September 21, has been designated at World Alzheimer’s Day, when activities focus on world awareness of Alzheimer’s disease. Ultimately this awareness should result in more research and recognition that with an increasing number of people reaching the “Alzheimer’s age,” we will see more need for care of those stricken and support for their families.

There are an estimated 24 million people around the world who currently have dementia, of which Alzheimer’s disease is the most common cause.

Unfortunately there were no events here.
But I’ve tried to make this day brighter to our Alzheimer’s family member, Mother.

feeling confined…

In the past few days I started feeling the need to post some deeper thoughts. I started to feel that I have a zillion things to say and that I have no way to tell them, because I’m unable to express myself, I can’t communicate them in an understandable manner for my readers.
And why, because I’m no English native and I have a blog that is written in English.
It might sound surreal, but when I began blogging I decided that I would do it in English and I explained my reasons.
Since I started I think I’ve improved my English, engaging vocabularies, but not as much as necessary for some issues.
Well, my most elaborated posts are made in a text processor with my dictionary by my side and then pasted on blogger. This takes me so much time.
I don’t need that to my simple posts fortunately, for that my language skills are enough.
But I think my comments could be better because some ideas that may be very valid and important can become obscured by the difficulties to be expressed in the language employed. Not to mention the misspellings I do, since I have no time to be always looking in the dictionary.
Also language can reflect the environment, people’s lives, customs, and values people hold. When people communicate with others, they do not only select words and form sentences but also make cultural choices.
Each language has its own genius and is particularly able to express some kind of concepts and less able to express others.
So if even people who have good language proficiency may misinterpret the cultural signals, leading to confusion and misunderstanding without the support of cultural knowledge, what can I say?

Confined but not closed I will keep trying to express myself.

Happy Birthday H

You're such a good example
Of what a brother-in-law should be
We always get along so well
Even when we disagree

You have a good heart
And you're honest and true
You're the best brother-in-law
And I really love you

Today's Outfit - 09/19

I want to thank all my dear readers and blogging friends that reacted to my question about keeping or not the faux leather pants.
Thank you so much for your support and so nice and kind comments.
I have to say, your comments make my day.
Thank you so much for making me feel good when I’m feeling down.
And now I’m announcing the big decision…. *ruffles*….
I’m keeping the faux leather pants…. against some voices that came to my ears, but with the support of most of you I will try to pull them off.

Happy Birthday Sis

A sister is someone who loves you from the heart,
No matter how much you argue you cannot be drawn apart.
She is a joy that cannot be taken away,
Once she enters your life, she is there to stay.

A friend who helps you through difficult times,
Her comforting words are worth much more than dimes.
A partner who fills your life with laughs and smile,
These memories last for miles and miles.

When she is by your side, the world is filled with life,
When she is not around, your days are full of strife.
A sister is a blessing, who fills your heart with love,
She flies with you in life with the beauty of a dove.

A companion to whom you can express your feelings,
She doesn’t let you get bored at family dealings.
Whether you are having your ups or downs,
She always helps you with a smile and never frowns.

With a sister you cannot have a grudge,
She is as sweet as chocolate and as smooth as fudge.
Having a sister is not just a trend,
It is knowing you can always turn to her, your best friend.
The Importance Of A Sister by Shiv Sharma from Family Friend Poems

Today is your birthday... and I hope it is a magical one for you ...
hope all your wishes and dreams come true...

Happy Birthday with lots of hugs & kisses
More than Sisters… Friends Forever.

Today's Outfit - 09/17

There’s almost nothing as a “trip” to the hairdresser to make me feel more lifted up.

So I’m showing you my redo hairstyle that I did today. Also saying that I’m still alive and kicking…

red shoes - Zara
printed skirt - Zara
purple blouse - Shop 1One
necklace - mainland store
bracelet - gift from Hubby (Tie Rack)
red lipstick - L'Oreal
perfume - Paris from YSL
sunglasses - mainland store

Now let’s talk about another issue. When I’ve had my car accident I was wearing a faux leather pants. It was necessary to cut them all over to undress me. I always felt sorry for that.

Today I found this faux leather skinny pant, almost leggings. I know this is against the rules (after a certain age a woman shouldn’t wear leather)… but I like to be a maverick.

So my question to my dear readers is: What do you think, should I keep them????

the trends of the 80's are back…

It's not even Fall yet! And the Spring 2009 Fashion Weeks are already being spoken for all fashion blogosphere.
It seems that the TOPSHOP UNIQUE SPRING 2009 it’s an 80’s inspired collection.
The look of the 80's is back in style again!
When most of all supposed that it will never come back…
Being an 80’s girl (question to myself: Am I getting old?) I like those inspirations, since they don’t come with the 80’s excesses. (Now we know better).

But back to Fall 2008/Winter 2009 trends we can already see those 80’s inspirations.
The style I’m getting attention is a slim line version of the peg-top trouser line, which was a popular 1980s fashion.
The trend pants of the 80's are cut generously around the hips and narrow to the hem. They can reach to the ankle, or have a shorter leg – but the calf must be covered.
Now these peg-top trousers sometimes currently called carrot-top trousers taper to the ankle, and usually have tuck pleat fullness at the waistband.
Note that too much fullness can make a woman look frumpy. They must be with a slightly more relaxed hip and closely tailored ankle.
At runaways of Fall 2008 Collections YSL did it best, this was sharp and sophisticated designing.

I think maybe I’m already channelling this trend…

I want to thank all my dear blogging friends who left me such nice and kind comments in my last post. Namasté

aw… it’s already the 400th…

Here I am with my 400th post… it hasn’t been a year yet that I made my first post.

Also yesterday my blog reached the 25.000 hits, according to the report below.

So I want to thank all my dear readers and blogging friends for the role that each and everyone had in the path I’ve been doing.

I thank the comments, I thank the friendship, I thank the support.

And now let’s celebrate!!!!!

Celebrate for me means: chocolate cake (even better if with some nuts), a good wine (preferably red) and some music, in this case Suede – “She’s in Fashion” (do you think it appropriated?)
