TO - 03/15 - can opposite things live together…? can red and green be mixed…?

Red and green are two colours which are directly opposite to each other, (complementary colours) and they should work well together, but most of the time people usually say it’s too Christmas-y or look like some flags. But if you work it out it can look real well.

On the same thought line, if someone is concerned with ones body image, dress to emphasis what one has and look good, people tend to say that it’s something too shallow and opposite to spirituality.
But body image affects how you feel about yourself. It's an important factor in self esteem or your opinion of yourself.
Self esteem is crucial. It is very important because it affects how you think, act and even how you relate to other people. It affects your potential to be successful.
Low self esteem means poor confidence and that also causes negative thoughts which means that you are likely to give up easily rather than face challenges. In addition, it has a direct bearing on your happiness and wellbeing.
Dressing to look good raises your self esteem.
Your visual appearance—the way you present yourself—is important.
Please, don't let anyone convince you that the way you behave, look, speak and dress are not connected to who you are predestined to be in the world.
Tell me, whatever happened to motivated for the more excellent way—the way that helps us to become our personal best?
Fashion is more than material clothing. I believe clothes are ideas. Hence, fashion is also intellectual and creative.
And creativity expresses soul. Creativity is the essence of life, so if you are alive (and you appear to be!), then you are creative. There is no escaping this part of your heritage as a human being. You were created to create. Doing so sets your soul free.

So if red and green can be worked to look good together also fashion can be harmonized with spirituality.

  1. Hi Seeker: I love your words today, and I agree completely with you. It's taken me a lot of years to allow myself to really go as far as I want exploring my creativity through clothes; I've pushed it aside for a long time coming from an academic, political and more "rational" family. But I do agree with you. Creativity is absolutely connected to spirituality, and what better way to be creative than in how we present ourselves to the world?

I love this journey we're on.

I also like your outfit! I was inspired by your belts to try a belt today, kind of like you have here. It didn't work so well. I'm going to ask Imogen at Inside Out Style for some advice. You pull it off well, but I think your shape is different than mine.

Thanks for all the good thoughts!

  9. yah, red when joined with green is too Christmas-y, but it depends upon the projection....
and honey, you did a great job!

  10. When you do it this well, it makes absolutely sense that they can. I think you have to be completely confident in your ability to not look like a walking advert for Christmas (not that there's anything wrong with that :), and I have to admit that I'm wary to try mixing the two.

But I love how you did it. Just so elegant!

  17. for me pairing red and green is very tricky...but the key lies in the tones...one wld have to be darker to tone down d overall hue of the outfit so u dnt go looking like a grinch :o).....

  27. Hello Seeker, before anything else i'd like to thank you for all words of encoragement during this time of change.

About this post, you were right on the money. I never thought about the way we dress as a creative expression of self. For the past 32 years i only remember to hear myself repeat over and over again that my creativity has been taken over by reason and that i cannot do anythign with my hands but to work a keyboard and 10-key.

Thank is not correct! and you got it right on the money. I express myself thru my outfits and thru helping others feel beautiful.

thank you sooooooo much. i'll be posting about this on my blog soon :)

  34. First: I think your new profile photo is really beautiful!
Yes, I usually thought too that complementary colours don't work together well, but you convinced me of the contrary. It's the same with people: People who are the opposite of each other mostly live better together than people who are exactly the same.
I think everyone should dress to look good! I discovered that you automatically feel better when you look good. Of course, the inner values matter, but looking good raises your self esteem.
Again, the backdrop of your picture with the statue and the palm tree is so beautiful.
I really like the colour of the tights.

  38. I love your skirt, and that sculpture is beautiful! Annnd fantastic new profile pic :)

With regards to fashion, I really do believe that dressing well is a mark of self respect. If one does not bother or care with whether or not they look presentable, it is an insight into who they are as a person. It often means that they do not care in other walks of life and have no self respect/esteem. Dressing well makes us all far more confident, ask anyone who has put on a beautiful dress or a tuxedo. Not only that, but it truly is a form of self expression and art, an insight also into our minds. On another level, fashion and clothing is a form of semiotics - a way in which we communicate to others and the world around us.

ANYWAY, you look fantastic! LOVE your cowl neck and your skirt! It's awesome!
