TO – 05/28 - aren’t fishnets in…? and an award…

OMG, today when I opened Bloglovin’ (yes, that’s where I search out your blogs… lol ) and I saw that I had 507 new posts to see… I just panic.
But I’m going to catch you… I am…

Well, when I showed you my new fringe shoes I was wearing black fishnets. If you recall.
On that post I had an anonymous comment saying (in Portuguese, of course…) “Sandals with fishnets? Please.... I sincerely must live in another world....”
I would say… “Yes, my dear, you DO!”

Not that I find the necessity of justifying myself. Fortunately, our country is still a place where one can dress the way one likes, despite many other people don’t (but that’s another story), but I feel it’s my duty, as the Holy Book says, to teach the badly informed.

So, I would advice this anonymous reader to go see at least the D&G Spring 2009 Ready-to-Wear collection, as I think it’s a good example, as this little picture shows.

On another note I’m so proud and happy because the very talented and insightful Sallymandy from the blue kimono gave me this new award created by her.

Here’s the text that comes with it:

“This award is given especially to these readers. Your visits and comments make me happy to be a blogger. I learn from you, your comments, and your blogs more than I can say.

In the words of Voltaire, ‘Appreciation is a wonderful thing: it makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well.’”

Thank you so much my dear, I really appreciated your gesture.

And now I’m going to pass it to (in no special order):

Cheryl Lynn;
Lizzy Frizzfrock;
Hammie;
Camisola Preta;
Drollgirl;
Summer;
La Belette Rouge ;
Linda S. Socha;
Vicen;
Eneida;
Marian Kihogo;
The Stiletto Effect ;
dapper kid ;
Couture Carrie ;
Sal ;
Lenorenevermore ;
Terence Sambo;
Jesse Mendez.

Thank you all,

Namasté.

so much busy... look carefully…

Gatha on Impermanence

The day is now ended.
Our lives are shorter.
Now we look carefully.
What have we done?

…with all of our heart,
let us be diligent,
engaging in the practice.
Let us live deeply,
free from afflictions,
aware of impermanence
so that life does not
drift away without meaning.

First of all I want to thank all my dear readers and blogging friends who have been voting on me for the May “Look of the Month” on Portuguese blog mini-saia.
However, if you didn’t it yet go here and VOTE.
Thank you all.

Secondly I want to apologize to my dear blogging friends for being soooooo behind on your blogs.
This week has been very busy on my job, with a two days seminar, meetings overtime…
I will try to catch you all very soon.

I also have a lot of “homework” to do with memes, tags and awards to pass on. I promise I’ll do it as soon as I can…

TO - 05/24 - blue shades…as a blue mood… lesson learned and the wheels keep turning... I gotta believe it's worth it...

Humans are specialist only in pointing their finger in anger, frustration or exaltation. Humans have accurate judgments and rigid thoughts. We should have been taught not to know what to wait from the Universe; that would have made it easier for everybody. There are worse things than misinterpretations.

Some of you might know that I’ve been trough tough times, so my outfits have not been very creative. As today that I dressed on a casual matchy-matchy look.
The day was warm but not sunny, well, from time to time the sun made some appearances.

But as the song says “lesson learned and the wheels keep turning...”, so I hope inspiration is coming as you saw in my new board.

Well this year is Francis Bacon's 100th Birthday…
Life may look a little strange when one studies his paintings whenever one finds some spare hours…

You might not always like me, the things I do or the way I do them. But these are my things, this is the way I do them and I am me.

YO – 05/18 – look what I’ve found… new shoes…

Some posts ago I’ve told you about my current obsession… shoes.
And I’ve showed you some that were catching my eyes on internet.
As you know this last “shopping season” wasn’t as it was supposed to be and I just had time to see a few things and only bought (in shoes) my Zara’s brown sandals. I passed by that shoes store that I’ve told you about the owner from whom I manage to get my oxfords, if you remember, and imagine what I found…

The black suede fringe t-strap heels that I’ve posted!!!!
And now here they are…. I even wore them on my yesterday’s outfit, because it was such a sunny day…

Aren’t they just gorgeous????

Now I just miss the black metallic cross strap stud heels… Note to myself, maybe if I’ll have a chat with Sister Seeker… lol

Once again I want to thank all my dear readers and blogging friends that gave me so much support on my last post! You’re the best and you all deserve my love!!!!
Thank you!!!!

the first time is a charm…

The Portuguese blog mini-saia has been promoting a diversion that is some kind of a contest, in which the readers can send pictures with their looks and among them is chosen the “Look of the Week”.
After that the four “look of the week” will go on votes to find the “Look of the Month”.

Well, that’s right my dear readers and blogging friends… I made the mistake of sending a picture of my recent boho chic look, why a mistake…? because my look was chosen to be this “Look of the Week”.
So… why am I sad?
I’m aware that one that exposes oneself like that it will be always people who like and people who don’t.
But you can’t imagine what those people anonymously say…
I can stand a constructive critic, but I think that “Horrifyingly disgusting!” it’s not a thing that one should tell to another human being.

That’s why I’m proud of my blogger’s corner and of all my lovely and dear readers and blogging friends for all the support I receive on this blog of mine.

Thank you all!!!!

sunday evening… nostalgic feelings…

My mother sees me and greets me wearing a huge smile.
“It’s going to be a good day,” I say to myself as I hug her. She hugs me with all her strength. I imagine that, for her, it feels like years since she saw me last, although it has only been a week.
“This is my daughter,” my mother says to her friends seated around her. They all nod and say hello. I’ve met them all dozens of times. I notice that my mother does not use my name, and I briefly wonder if she can recall it, but no matter. Today she knows that I am her daughter and that’s enough for me.
I help her get ready for our weekly outing, chatting about family and the silly events of the past week. She listens politely and sometimes laughs at my stories. I take her arm and help her into my car.
On the way back to her place, I tell her all about family and the silly events of the past week. No matter that these are stories I have told her numerous times. No matter that I don’t think she can recall the names of her grandchildren. Today she knows I am her daughter, and that’s enough for me.
I kiss my mother, and as I look into her eyes to say good bye, my heart breaks just a little more. I know her future. I know what this disease will do to her. I just don’t know when, and I don’t know what it will do to me. But no matter, there’s next Sunday and the Sunday after that.
For now, I still have my mother and that’s enough for me.

TO – 05/16 - hands in the soil… evoking the presence… with brown and blue...

Margaret Atwood said:

“In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt.”

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Let us be at peace with our bodies and our minds.
Let us return to ourselves and become wholly ourselves.

Let us be aware of the source of being,
common to us all and to all living things.

Evoking the presence of the Great Compassion,
let us fill our hearts with our own compassion—
towards ourselves and towards all living beings.

Let us pray that we ourselves cease to be
the cause of suffering to each other.

With humility, with awareness of the existence of life,
and of the suffering that are going on around us,
let us practice the establishment of peace in our hearts and on earth.

TO – 05/13 – this is the world that we live in…

I want to thank you all that commented on my last post for your worlds of support and positive thinking.

I feel that I must explain you some facts that make me feel so unmotivated with this entire situation.
It happened that I was already working when I decided to do my university degree. So I was a working student and I feel that I gave so much of me to do my degree.
When I finished university I progressed to another career, but since I was in my former career for many years I stayed with the same salary.
Now I don’t progress on my former career (obviously) or on my present one.
And despite I’m too happy and love my university course, I wonder what the use of it…

TO – 05/12 – when is too much too much…. colour?

Today I went to my hairdresser

Well, you know I’m a person that doesn’t talk about my work nor complains. What for?
Because complaining, justified or not, about the workplace leads to no good. In fact, it can be downright toxic and can make a department a terrible place to work.

But lately I’m not feeling happy at my work. It has been some legislation that made some restructures on my career. And when those things happen not everyone has luck, the system is not fair.

Now I think I’m not paid according to my profile and colleagues with similar positions get more than me and I have not got raise.
Whatever the reason can be the truth remains that I’m not happy with my salary.
So it makes things look worse than they are and it also destroyed all my hope that things can get better.
Because the situation looks so hopeless, I’m becoming less creative and innovative. What’s the point of coming up with ideas and implementing them???

Well, I think I must train my own ability to be positive or I might end thinking that “Everything sucks and you can’t convince me otherwise!”

TO – 05/11 – buzzing time… and colour clashing…

Time is like a bee.
Flying, fussing, buzzing, nagging, stinging, honeycombing.
Everything it touches turns into cells, pieces, caverns, concaves, puzzles, wax and honey.
Time is the eternal pollinator. Haven't you noticed your time-adherence? Haven't you felt the thrill of having your energy touched by its little hind-feet, and seen your memories bursting into honey?
Haven't you witnessed its overwhelming fertilizing supremacy?
Haven't you looked back into your life and realized how sweet the sting of time was every so often?
How weirdly attached you've become to its catastrophic effects, how dangerously dependent on its rigid nest architecture?
Time is all about meeting your life's pollination needs. And look at all these seconds, minutes and hours hammering down like honey...

TO – 05/08 & 05/10 – what's old, what's new, what's right for you…?

For the past few years, a matchy-matchy look felt like a fashion faux pas, but now ensemble dressing is making a comeback.
So are you ready to play the match game? Spring's brights are showing off in bold monochromatic ensembles. Jesse Garza calls the look "a chic and elongating way to dress."
If you think that this season more and more designers have picked up on the trend of jumpsuits, you should agree about this head to toe colour.
In fact, to make the appearance of a one-piece/jumpsuit yourself, wear all one colour. By doing this you are creating a monochromatic look, but be sure to define your waist so as not to get lost in your outfit.
What I absolutely love about the bright colour trend is that it’s forcing people to not hide behind black. I love wearing black, don’t get me wrong, but sometimes it’s nice to be the woman walking down the street who turns heads because she’s fearlessly wearing red, purple, or turquoise.

But whether you want to mix it up or wear one whole look from head to toe, just keep in mind that separates are going to be the big story in fashion. And it all starts with the suit — both skirt and pant sets. This return to classic tailoring allows for versatility, a favourable option for these economic times. While a dress is a one-day outfit, ensembles allow you to mix and match the pieces, and transition items to not only expand your work wardrobe, but also blend these separates into your weekend wear.

The first outfit is from Friday (05/08) and the second is from today (05/10).

Again, I’m sorry for not checking your blogs as often as I would like, but time has not been my strong point.

TO – 05/07 – can I call it Boho-chic inspired…?

Boho-chic is a fashion style drawing on various bohemian and hippie influences…

"Boho", an abbreviation of bohemian, style is a 70’s-inspired.
It’s an effortless style that’s all about being free-spirited and independent and is the perfect look for the transition from Winter to Spring and Summer to Autumn.

Think ethnic, earthy and eclectic, a mix of luxurious textures and contrasting, layered fabrics. Loose, unstructured skirts and tunics are often made from natural fabrics like linen and float cotton in organic colours and the best accessories tend to be chunky and made of wood, stone and leather. Preferably all three!

Popular components of this great look are skinny jeans and culottes layered with feminine smock tops and wrap dresses and leather, suede and fur gilets. Tunics worn over long layered skirts or jeans are often loosely belted and topped with vintage jewellery and multi-layered beads.

Accessories are a must... Express yourself with affordable accessories and details! Boho fashion doesn't have to be expensive. Instantly transform a pair of jeans and a white tunic shirt into a boho outfit with a brown leather hobo bag, ethnic embroidered scarf, gold and layered necklace, multiple bangle bracelets, gladiator sandal shoes and so on.
Do wear pieces that create a statement and that people will notice or even comment.

The great news is that nothing needs to match as such. Think relaxed, think individual and enjoy this go-anywhere at any age style!

One of the important things you'll have to remember when it comes to fashion is to always personalize a look to make it more YOU. So adjust boho fashion into your own liking and flair!
