TO – 11/01 - they call Alzheimer's "The Long Goodbye," and I can see why…

Mother is depressed… she has clear moments where she knows and is very sad and sorry for what is happening to her. And so AM I!!!!
When a loved one is diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease we are given the facts, there is an intellectual understanding of these facts; but it is difficult to transfer that “in the head” understanding to the heart.
My Mother used to be such a social butterfly (unlike me), she loved to entertain and have fun with friends and family. She loved to cook and loved to watch everyone enjoying her cooking.
Now Mom definitely doesn't eat enough…
Oh Mother, you don’t know how fast I hold on to the remnants of what your mind has let go, misplaced, erased of yourself, as you walk to the end of the nursing hall.

I definitely love this top, the print, the colour, the fabric and the cut make it a stylish and well put together piece that can pull up some jeans or match a lady like bottom to a chic look.
It’s absolutely a piece to wear a lot, even in winter. Thank you so much, my Sexy Goddaughter!!!!

  1. You are looking very fashion Miss Seeker in that beautiful island light.
I was reading about Temple Grandin and she described how autistic people use different parts of their brain better than others - because they don't worry about the so called "normal things" that weigh us down.
She said it also happens in Aldzeimers, when one part of the brain goes, the patient starts using another part much more actively and perhaps gets an enjoyment they never realised during their life. Keep thinking about this. You are a good daughter. xx

  3. I can't even imagine what she (or you) are going through. I'm so sorry though, that you are all living with this. Nonetheless, you look so lovely and chic. (Maybe it's a way to take the edge off, to express yourself...)

  5. Our family has also delt with the disease, my grandmother was an author and wrote stories about how she was feeling in the early & middle onset.

She never showed them to us, but we found them when she moved into a nursing home. it really helped us to understand the feeling an emotions she was experiencing.

  6. I think what Hammie said is very important to remember and actually gives me hope. It is important not to just base things in the norm.

That said I know how hard it is to see someone deteriorate physically with no ability to communicate as you used to. Just take charge and don't worry you are being fantastic and doing all the right things.

  8. It is sad when things like that happens to loved ones, but we have to remember that we are here only for a season, what ever happens here after is eternity.
    Best wishes.

    You look great!...stunning!
    I´m sorry for your mom...
I know how you feel,it´s horrible. I felt the same for 4 years, my grandmother suffered that disease, and...every day I said goodbye, and turned around with tears in my eyes...
Some days she did not speak and all I wanted was to lie down beside her...and stay there forever!... Other days was fine and then I was reborn all the joy and hope, that was wonderful!...
    It´s a long goodbye...very true!

  16. My prayers are with you and your mother. My father suffered from Alzheimer's Disease. It was very difficult to see a once vibrant man wither away. I think it was hardest on my mom to have the man she'd spent 47 years of her life with forget who she was.

There is no easy way to deal with this debilitating disease. But I found that a closer walk with God and resting in the arms of Jesus our Savior helped to get me through.

A very thoughtful and brave post. Have a wonderful evening my dear.

  17. You've expressed your compassion and sadness for your mother very well. When I look at you in your pictures, I'll pray for your "heart" to be strong and at peace.

Meanwhile, let me say you did an awesome job pulling all the separate elements of your "look" together with this outfit! The only thing more beautiful is that mountain behind you! Wow! What a beautiful place you live.
