You knew I Love your son and I know you were glad for it. I always felt welcomed in your home. Now, that today you passed away, Mother-in-law, I know you’re welcome in the Lord’s Home.
Rest In Peace Mother-in-Law…
May the Light be with You!
This is a time of much sorrow, as you know my own Mother deceased almost one month apart. Memories came and my grief started to be as fresh as the day I lost my Mother, and it again seemed to overwhelm me. I hope you all will understand my absence.

The Seeker
The Fall 2010 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week just got done in New York. This year, the show was held at the Damrosch Park at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. Earlier, it used to be held at the Bryant Park, but due to some problem with its management, the venue had to be changed. That did not matter much because the event was a major success in New York’s social year.
One of the most important parts of the Fashion Week this year was the focus on the Haiti earthquake, with Naomi Campbell’s Fashion For Relief show showcasing a number of superstars walking the ramp. American Express offered special passes to the show for its cardholders.
There was the event where major fashion designer Betsey Johnson unveiled a Liqueur bottle from Chambord, done in black raspberry, and costing a whopping $3 million. Betsey Johnson is one of the most well known designers of the time, and anything from her is seen with major interest, especially her iconic designer clothes. But a bottle worth $3 million!!! Come on, isn’t that a lot of money for a bottle of Liqueur? We wonder if that’s just the price of the bottle, or will there be something in it!!!
Major outfits that participated in the tent based fashion week were Maybelline, DHL, Chambord, Rums of Puerto Rico, Vevant and Rowenta. The show was concluded with a live performance by Mariah Carey, with a song titled “Forever.”
The Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in the most important fashion show in NYC. It has a history of over 65 years. Started in 1943 to replace the annual French Fashion shows where the Americans could not visit that year due to the war, the then-called Press Week was a major success. The event came to Bryant Park in 1994, where the show was held under white tents and admission was exclusively by invitation. It is only this year that the show has moved to a new location, but from the looks of it, things will be alright here too.
This year’s show featured some gorgeous collections from Tommy Hilfiger. It also featured the work of Peter Som, the brand’s latest creative design consultant. There was a majority of Hilfiger classics, but we also saw some ultra modern designs, which featured updated silhouettes and beautiful textural work. There were awesome outwear collections, including toss-on jackets, coats made out of camel skin, and even sleeveless trench. These are sure to make a major impact when displayed at their new, flagship store on Fifth Avenue. They also had a great selection of ready to wear clothing for rough use, like those seen on the runways in NYC. These included suiting, paper trousers as well as jackets that were jazzy and fashionably tight fitting.
Another sensation was the offering from Maki Aminaka Löfvander and Marcus Wilmont of Aminaka Wilmont, the 2007 Fashion Fringe winners. This fall, they brought out stunning jersey dresses made of organic silk, knits, narrow pants, and their one piece leather jackets. Each offering was unique, chic, and east to wear.

Spring/Summer 2010 colours are all about soft feminine hues which are warm, tranquil and calming, energetic fresh airy vibrant tones, and delicate versatile neutrals which will transcend seasons.
Pantone's Key Colours for Spring Summer 2010
Turquoise — cool and tropical, this delicate and feminine blue evokes memories of tropical beaches and cool clear waters.
Amparo Blue — a twist on navy, which traditionally represents spring. This is a livelier, brighter hue but still has the warmth of summer; a tone away from Fall 2009’s teal/Majolica Blue, and not as harsh against the skin as royal blue.
Violet — the colour of heather and spring blooms, violet, a cross between lavender and purple is a romantic, feminine gentle hue with uplifting properties.
Aurora —a deep-ish yet soft yellow with a slightly greenish hue, Aurora, according to Pantone, represents the first glimpse of sunshine as it rises over the horizon. A more wearable yellow than brighter hues.
Fusion Coral — a warm pinky, peachy orange, the colour of tropical sunsets and reminiscent of passion fruit.
Tomato Puree — the season’s boldest colour in a classic, clean pinky red. This uplifting tone works really well with all neutrals or can be teamed with turquoise for a retro look.
Pink Champagne — a wispy combination of ivory and beige provides a subtle hint of warm colour and provides a sophisticated blank canvas for almost any shade.
Tuscany — this warm pinky beige acts as a versatile base colour, especially for violet and fusion coral.
Dried Herb — a gray-green neutral base evoking memories of country gardens, a softer tone than khaki but just as versatile.
Eucalyptus — a versatile soft gray which will transcend seasons and provides an elegant backdrop to add dramatic pops of colour from brightly-coloured accessories.
Whether it’s uplifting splashes of colour (Tomato Puree, Violet or Amparo Blue) or the safety net of soft neutrals which are accessible for seasons to come, colours for 2010 offer a more delicate variation to the traditional red, white and blue so often associated with the spring season.
Of course this are just trends and every colour is “in” since you feel gorgeous with it, that’s my two cents…

The Alice In Wonderland-inspired collection will showcase unique details inspired by the film, such as Victorian antique lace and vibrant details, while offering Sue Wong’s signature style: romance, femininity and exquisite hand-craftsmanship.
Stella McCartney also made a bracelet and necklace, incorporating iconic charms, which will be available at her boutiques.
Tom Binns contributed heavily layered jewelry as well, which will be at select Disney stores.
Urban Decay eyeshadows inspired by “Alice” will be available at Sephora, Macy’s and Ulta, and OPI nail polishes will be at salons and beauty stores including Ulta.
Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland” is certainly rich fodder for designers and artists...
While everyone is in New York at Fashion Week, the rest of the world is preparing for Spring… Certainly, the defined date is March 21, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get ready ahead of time.
I don’t consider myself as a “fashion victim” in the way that I must wear head to toe the latest trends, no matter what. One must know how to convey one’s personality through clothes and escape from the total looks, but it is worth and I like to know some seasons’ trends to inspire me.
Pretty Pastels
Pastel made a noticeable comeback in Spring/Summer 2010 collections. From pink-toned cream to tea-coloured beige, and from mint through to violet, these soft shades give a really feminine feel.
Florals
A fashion synonym of over-the-top romanticism is…a floral print (dress, halter, sheath, tunic, top, jacket, pants, shorts etc.). Of course! Florals always scream spring. Flowered patterns have dominated most Spring/Summer 2010 runways. Looks like again, designers are going back to basics and they show their understanding to the women wanting to accentuate their feminity.
Stripes and Nautical Style
One of the big trends this season is anything striped... Whenever Spring/Summer comes around you can one hundred percent guarantee that sailor stripes are going to be making another appearance. That is exactly what has happened again in 2010 as sailor stripes have reappeared with a playful twist. Expect to see lots of stripe, not only on wonderful nautical knit tops, but dresses, handbags, and even shoes...
Military Style
Military fashion is now more eye-catching than ever. There has always been a certain attraction related to uniforms, this is why military outfits will always be appreciated. It is difficult to associate femininity with military, but fashion designers managed to combine these two characteristics wonderfully. So when wearing your military jackets, pair them with ruffles, pleated skirts and fitted jeans or leggings. Then add some accessories to complete the themed look. The colours featured in the military fashion collections were green, sand, black, and they all looked gorgeous.
Abstract prints and lots of colour
This season, expect kaleidoscopic patterns, lots of wild prints in as equally wild colors. Even our pants are no longer to be block colour. Spring 2010 runways have shown bright clean turquoise, orange and hot pink, as well as softened coral and turquoise. Spring 2010 fashions will utilize all the shades necessary to create pretty, feminine patterns with an artistic edge. Tribal patterns should not be forgotten as part of this trend as well.
Underwear as outerwear
Lingerie had never been so much in vogue as it was during the Spring/Summer 2010 catwalk season. From femme fatale, to overtly sexy and virginal the most daring see-through and lacy items, seemingly fit for the boudoir, are in fact now fit for all to see. Find a lingerie style dress anything sheer or made of satin.
Well, being honest, I think this is a look to be worn with very caution.
Leather
The leather must-have for last fall was the leather jacket. For the last two years, leather pants or faux leather pants have also been popular. Now designers are making everything from hot shorts to ruffled skirts to slinky dresses and this trend is translating to tops. Sleeveless leather tops are the newest leather item in closets everywhere this spring. The great thing about this piece is versatility. It can be paired with a colourful, watercolour-inspired skirt or with jeans or shorts. While there was plenty of tough black on the runways, these softer neutral colours are light and fresh for the new season.
Sporty Chic
Sporty look is perceived as a casual, comfortable and cool appearance, but in dictionary of designers for Spring/Summer 2010 collections, ‘Sporty means Stylish’. It symbolizes youthfulness and freshness. Designers have pounced upon this idea and declared sportswear as an upcoming fashion trend for spring season ahead.
But most important is mix and match with unique pieces, colours, and patterns. Your style is your own.
