inspirations… in trends for this Spring/Summer 2010…

While everyone is in New York at Fashion Week, the rest of the world is preparing for Spring…
Certainly, the defined date is March 21, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get ready ahead of time.

I don’t consider myself as a “fashion victim” in the way that I must wear head to toe the latest trends, no matter what.
One must know how to convey one’s personality through clothes and escape from the total looks, but it is worth and I like to know some seasons’ trends to inspire me.

Pretty Pastels

Pastel made a noticeable comeback in Spring/Summer 2010 collections. From pink-toned cream to tea-coloured beige, and from mint through to violet, these soft shades give a really feminine feel.

Florals

A fashion synonym of over-the-top romanticism is…a floral print (dress, halter, sheath, tunic, top, jacket, pants, shorts etc.).
Of course! Florals always scream spring. Flowered patterns have dominated most Spring/Summer 2010 runways. Looks like again, designers are going back to basics and they show their understanding to the women wanting to accentuate their feminity.

Stripes and Nautical Style

One of the big trends this season is anything striped...
Whenever Spring/Summer comes around you can one hundred percent guarantee that sailor stripes are going to be making another appearance.
That is exactly what has happened again in 2010 as sailor stripes have reappeared with a playful twist.
Expect to see lots of stripe, not only on wonderful nautical knit tops, but dresses, handbags, and even shoes...

Military Style

Military fashion is now more eye-catching than ever.
There has always been a certain attraction related to uniforms, this is why military outfits will always be appreciated. It is difficult to associate femininity with military, but fashion designers managed to combine these two characteristics wonderfully. So when wearing your military jackets, pair them with ruffles, pleated skirts and fitted jeans or leggings. Then add some accessories to complete the themed look.
The colours featured in the military fashion collections were green, sand, black, and they all looked gorgeous.

Abstract prints and lots of colour

This season, expect kaleidoscopic patterns, lots of wild prints in as equally wild colors. Even our pants are no longer to be block colour.
Spring 2010 runways have shown bright clean turquoise, orange and hot pink, as well as softened coral and turquoise. Spring 2010 fashions will utilize all the shades necessary to create pretty, feminine patterns with an artistic edge.
Tribal patterns should not be forgotten as part of this trend as well.

Underwear as outerwear

Lingerie had never been so much in vogue as it was during the Spring/Summer 2010 catwalk season. From femme fatale, to overtly sexy and virginal the most daring see-through and lacy items, seemingly fit for the boudoir, are in fact now fit for all to see. Find a lingerie style dress anything sheer or made of satin.

Well, being honest, I think this is a look to be worn with very caution.

Leather

The leather must-have for last fall was the leather jacket. For the last two years, leather pants or faux leather pants have also been popular. Now designers are making everything from hot shorts to ruffled skirts to slinky dresses and this trend is translating to tops.
Sleeveless leather tops are the newest leather item in closets everywhere this spring. The great thing about this piece is versatility. It can be paired with a colourful, watercolour-inspired skirt or with jeans or shorts.
While there was plenty of tough black on the runways, these softer neutral colours are light and fresh for the new season.

Sporty Chic

Sporty look is perceived as a casual, comfortable and cool appearance, but in dictionary of designers for Spring/Summer 2010 collections, ‘Sporty means Stylish’. It symbolizes youthfulness and freshness. Designers have pounced upon this idea and declared sportswear as an upcoming fashion trend for spring season ahead.

But most important is mix and match with unique pieces, colours, and patterns. Your style is your own.

I would love to find a piece or two of soft leather. I wonder what a leather sheath (dress) would feel like???
