Anna Wintour and Grace Coddington Dolls...

In celebration of Fashion's Night Out, Barneys commissioned Brooklyn artist Andrew Yang to create one-of-a-kind, hand-painted doll versions of Grace Coddington and Anna Wintour.

They took two weeks to make: “I had to special-order Anna’s wig and cut it myself to get the bob right.

And Grace’s hair was the right color, but it needed a perm,” Yang says. The dolls will be auctioned off on charitybuzz.com beginning August 31, with the proceeds benefiting The New York City Aids Fund.

"Super Comments" award...

Many, many posts ago the sharp, insightful, brave angel and also my dear friend High Heeled Life from Falling Off A High Heeled Life to whom I’m sending all my love, gave me the "Super Comments" award and I feel so privilege that she thought of me for this so cool and gorgeous award.
I love HHL’s deep posts and comments, as well our insights trades.
Thank you so much my dear.

HHL is one of those angels who are just people you have in your life or you just met at some point...
They send you a message when you needed it the most or they give you something or they help you in a way you didn't thought possible... And your burden gets lighter and your smile comes back...
And I'm lucky enough to have her in my life...

And that’s with great pleasure that I pass this award to the blogs of my blogroll, to all of the lovely ladies, gentlemen, girls and boys that take time out, whenever possible to leave me lovely comments, they all deserve my love and my friendship.

Oh, but this came with some rules….. I love rules (when and) so I can break them… I’m a pseudo maverick…

Here are the rules:

•Thank the person who nominated you. (check)
•Post the award in your blog. (check)
•Link to the person who gave it to you. (check)
•Answer 10 questions that come with the award. (below)
•Nominate of few of your favourite bloggers. (with a break but check (lol))

Why do you blog?
I’ve done it as a way of express myself and gain confidence, to express my life philosophy, some of my ideals and thoughts. Besides it was a way of seeing me as if I was someone else, in a different perspective from the one in the mirror, trying to accept myself and also as my blog’s name says, searching the inner me. A small part of me, however, was selfishly hoping for affirmation, seeking validation and engagement with others.
As a person interested in fashion I also chose to speak about it as a part of me since my youth times. So I’ve begun to explain my ideas of daywear, showing myself.

What are your 3 best memories?
Just 3???? I have much more, fortunately!!!
Mother, sister and I, after dinner, singing;
Dad telling jokes;
August 13th, 2005.

If you had to change your real name what would you change it to?
Catarina. (Catherine)
It was the name my mother would like to be named of and it’s a name I like. I was named after my Dad, something that now I value, but I never liked much my real name.

What are five things you can't live without?
Breath;
Eat;
Sleep;
Learn something;
Do something good.

What are the 4 best books you've ever read?
This isn’t fair… It’s so difficult to just choose 4, oh well… in no particular order:
The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle;
Follow Your Heart by Susanna Tamaro;
Listen to my voice by Susanna Tamaro;
Unfinished Business by James Van Praagh.

Tell me something unique and interesting about yourself.
I’m unique… there’s no one like me.
As for interesting… I don’t know… I’m not good to judge myself, but maybe my humour…

What do you love best about yourself?
The capacity I have to find solutions in my work for unusual problems.

What is the best movie ever made?
Again not fair… just one (???)
But there’s a movie that touched me much was “What Dreams May Come” with Robin Williams.
It focuses on the sacrifices one man will make for true love. Love that does not end with death.

If you had a "Freaky Friday" experience who would you trade places with and why?
No one… I could like and it would be a problem to come back.

What's the best part about being a Woman?
When we are asked for a dinner date only we know how the night is going to end… ;-)

Have fun all of you!

thank you Lord...

what is the purpose of this...?

More than once I’ve been criticized for bringing to this blog some personal and more intimate issues.

But I’m not a teenager, I know the consequences of sometimes exposing myself to this immensity that is Internet, specially when living in a small Island where everybody knows everybody or if doesn’t know, knows somebody who does… (quite confusing hmmmm…)

However, despite this blog is mostly focused on fashion and personal style, I function like a whole. I can’t compartmentalize the various aspects of my personality, moreover being a mood dresser.
Ordinary living requires the many sides of an individual to be present at the same time, unless who develop multiple personality disorders.

So I chose to talk with my dear readers and blogging friends also about things that bore, hurt or unhappy me (specially in these “my dear diary” mood days), but also about things that make me feel good. And I always found support (despite a few haters) from people I don’t know in person but I feel like friends and I truly give my friendship and love.

But what is the purpose of this post…?

To tell you about the health problems I’ve been trough and the conclusions after the appointment with my doctor yesterday.
So as I’ve told you before I went to do a mammogram and an ultrasound. The results were a bit different from what the doctor told me at first. I think he didn’t want to scary me more. I have fibrocystic breast disease with two cysts in each breast.
The good new is that there are no signals of malignity. As for the rest everything is working just perfect.
Now I have to be careful and maintain a breast vigilance every year.

I found myself much more relief and thanking God and the Universe.
I also thank all the good friends that cared about and supported me sending prayers and thoughts or just asking about.
Love to all.

Namasté!

tip of the day... personalized aprons that your child will treasure...

Kids love to get messy when doing their artwork. They need to wear a great apron that not only keeps them from ruining their clothes, but also an apron that is uniquely fun and makes their art activities more enjoyable and memorable.
To make personalized children’s keepsake craft aprons that are fun, you need to decide whether you will sew the apron yourself or buy ready-made aprons or shirts. Let your imagination run wild and think of a fun design. Get ready with your materials, and do not forget to let your kid join the fun.

Having the apron ready, you can proceed with imagining a wonderful design. Think of something colorful and fun. Think of something you and your child can make together. You can get really messy, but make sure you come up with a neat apron. Remember that you don’t want to make an ordinary apron, but a personalized keepsake craft apron. The design has to be something special and memorable. For example, you can have a recent photo of your child printed on the apron or t-shirt and add other details later on. Just let your creative mind work and you will end up with a great design.

When the apron is complete, your child is ready to have some more fun. Your child will not only have an apron that is fun, unique, and personalized, but an one that he/she can keep and remember forever.

tip of the day... after a dog bite...

The best way to react when somebody gets bitten by a dog is never to panic and to do the right thing. After a dog bites you or a family member, you have to seek medical attention and initially treat the victim.
You have sought medical help, now what should you do next? This is a very common question that bothers the family and victims of dog bites.
Make sure others are not in danger when the dog is still around, find out the dog’s identity, talk to a witness, ask for the insurance information of dog owner, consult a dog bite lawyer, take pictures of the dog bites, report the incident to related authorities, and obtain other necessary assistance for the victim.
Do not hesitate to immediately consult a dog bite lawyer. Almost all dog bite lawyers and animal law firms in some countries offer free services to legally assist you with dog bite incidents. An Orange County dog bite lawyer, for example, offers free consultation and case evaluation on dog bites to help you decide your next course of action. Relay everything about the dog bite incident as detailed as possible to help the lawyer determine how to exactly help you.
Especially when the victim is a child, the dog bite incident might be very traumatic. Observe the child’s behavior even when sleeping. Is he or she abnormally fearful when outside? Does the victim have nightmares and other signs of trauma? If yes, you need to consider trauma counseling or therapy for the victim or whatever is advised by your physician.
Always have presence of mind when a dog bite incident occurs to you or a family member.

I let myself seduced by a Westrags’ jumpsuit…

I bought this jumpsuit by the time I did this post… can you imagine, they aren’t selling it anymore.
But it has been a great piece to wear with this terrible hot and humid weather we have had.

kitten heels...

The contentious kitten heel revival is in its early days. And while I have my own reservations the key to this trend is recognising that it's firmly tied to the resurgence in 1950s and 60s ladylike fashion.

And what about you, what are your feelings about kitten heels?????

tip of the day... make your own personalized gifts...

Giving family and close friends personalized gifts is a great way to make them happy and feel important. Moreover, when you make your own customized gifts, they become even more special.
To make your own photo gifts, you might want to consider these four interesting techniques: make use of your skills and talents, make a practical assessment of your spare time, follow proper time management, and brainstorm for creative gift ideas.
Brainstorm for creative gift ideas:

There are a hundred ideas on the types of gifts to make. Coming up with an excellent idea is so easy when you have fully organized your thoughts on what you want to give to someone. To guide you, here are a number of suggestions. It is up to you to determine which ones suit your time, money, capability, and, of course, the ones that your receiver will really appreciate.

* Make a photo calendar with your recipient’s photos.
* Make an apron for someone who enjoys cooking and baking. Make it more personal by adding his/her embroidered name on the front pocket.
* Make a poem about your loved one and print it on beautiful stationery.
* Bake your specialty pastries, wrap them with colorful food wrappers and place the creatively in a basket.
* Paint small terracotta pots and fill them with various cute items such as magnets, candles, and the like. You can make it more customized by adding the initials of your receiver on one side.
* Compile various favorite songs of your gift recipient in one CD, label it with the receiver’s name. Be sure to include the occasion too.
* Give the recipient a photo in a picture frame you decorated. You can decorate around the frame using beads and cutout letters to form her name.

tip of the day... a perfect gift for the boss...

The boss is the ‘leader’ of the workplace and is often the busiest on the work team.
He is supposed to organize and manage practically everything in the work place, from employees to work jobs.
That is why sometimes he also deserves some appreciation for a job well done.
The best time to show him that is on his birthday.
A small group gift can already make your boss smile when he sees how well his team planned this little surprise.
Coordinating a group gift for your boss to is easy. All you have to do is follow simple steps: Form a group, assign a leader, collect gift ideas, decide on what gift to buy and the budget, buy the gift, and add a greeting card.
A gift is never complete without a greeting card. Let everybody in the group write their personal greetings and wishes to your boss. Make sure that you don’t miss anyone.
Once your boss receives the gift he will appreciate it. But most of all, (we hope) he will be proud of the group’s teamwork and professionalism.

the school bag...

I’m not a celebrities follower.
I might like some outfits, but I don’t try to redo theirs styles.

However in this case when I saw this Alexa Chung picture and the bag she was carrying I just knew I had to have one similar.

The satchel, also known as school bag, brought me so many memories….good memories... even memories of Dad…

So here is mine, dark brown, not a Mulberry Alexa, but just bought in Saint Michael Island’s Stradivarius, something I don’t give a damn because in this case what really matters to me are the emotions...

(sorry for the bad picture)

( These pictures are for you to have a perception of the bag size)

tip of the day... electronic kits you can use with imagination...

Today Hubby bought a Solar Educational Kit to play using solar power to produce energy for different applications. I found it really interesting and educational.

Electronic kits can make for an attractive display for science fairs. They are also interesting to study and observe which make them a popular choice for electronics lab projects for students during science fairs.

Some of the most fascinating electronics kits you can use for your science fair project include car alarm simulator; music box kit; electric cannon kit; ambulance, fire, police, and machine gun sounds kit; sound activated switch; and electronic mosquito repellent.

These are just some of the most interesting electronic kits you can use for your science fair project. When it comes to choosing your project, make sure you are attracted to the idea. You need to have special interest in the project, so you will have the motivation to work on it. It will also make learning much easier and more fun for you, resulting to better understanding of the project.
All these working conditions will help you make a successful and even an award-winning science fair project, just use your imagination….

now let’s talk some serious… about my bad blogging…

It’s not new that I haven’t been a good blogger.

Lack of posts, few comments on my dear friends’ blogs, well symptoms that something is happening….
I could be very busy, I could be enjoying the summer, with more outdoors events. But that wasn’t the case.

I just haven’t been in a very good mood. Why?
Well… last week on a self-examination I detected a lump in my left breast.

Detecting a breast problem whatever might be can be quite scary. For good reason: They can be a sign of breast cancer.

Having had another episode some years ago I thought I would deal with this in a different way.
But unfortunately I didn’t…. I panicked like on the first time.

Today I went to do a mammogram and an ultrasound. The result is two breast cysts that according to the doctor are usually benign.

Now I’ll have to go to my gynaecologist, put my thoughts in order.... and digest all this.....

So, please don’t be mad with me for not being that good blogger…..

go for the bold with a statement pure art silk scarf...

With so many lovely neutrals available this season, accessories are a great way to punch up an otherwise subdued look.
It’s not the first time that I declare to you that I’m a scarves’ lover. If you remember all winter and spring there I was with one of my scarves. What can I do? I am, period!

So here I was, looking for new things, new trends when I dropped by this site Women Clothing Today with such gorgeous scarves that I had to shout out about it.

Can you defy this amazing tie-dyed silk scarf?

Photobucket

I found that Women Clothing Today is a family business based in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada, with the mission of delivering handcrafted accessories that double as wearable art, including women silk scarves and wraps.
Each scarf or shawl is hand made, unique, and made of the most luxurious and highest quality silk, so no two scarves are identical, even if their patterns and colours are nearly the same.

The women’s silk scarves and shawls I saw are so elegant and stylish that just adding one hand painted scarf to an outfit will pull it off with a different vibe.

Photobucket

Who can resist to a hand painted scarf like the one above which is pure art?

Or wrap yourself adding a dash of colourful elegance with a wonderful square scarf like this.

Photobucket

Or even give your purse a feminine charm...

I actually recommend you to visit Women Clothing Today to browse a gorgeous collection of scarves and shawls. I’m sure you will find that perfect gift you were looking for or why not that perfect accessory that is missing in your wardrobe.

and so we returned home from the holidays…

I haven’t been a good blogger these days… I know.
But life has those things and we must set some priorities even if they are just our very own priorities.
Sometimes the good’s worst enemy is “best”.
Well, I had in mind to do several posts (one post per day) about my little trip, that despite being soooooo little it was just great!!!!! But then it just stopped to make sense, so here is a brief picture.

This time we decided, since we went to other island, to go by boat and return by plane.
Despite I’m an islander I don’t deal very well with boats and the sea…. I prefer to just deal with the sea that sets us free.
But since I couldn’t swim to there, of course I had to use the boat.
After a few hours seated very quite or I could be seasick, we arrived.

Next day all we wanted was to see some parts of the city we didn’t know yet and the new yachting marina.

All evenings we went to the shopping centre. It’s something great to fight against stress, even if just for a “bath” of windows’ shopping.

If you remember some post of my holidays almost on all of them I used to complain about the difficulty I have being vegetarian to eat properly. This time I had no problem. I even found vegetarian fast food…

And it came the time when I screamed, he screamed, we screamed… for ice cream…lol Even a more curious pigeon wanted ice cream.
I couldn’t miss taking a picture of it.

There was an exhibition of dinosaurs, I couldn’t even reach one of them.

As I’ve said you before there’s nothing better to be sure of the return than leaving home…

By the way yesterday was my wedding anniversary. What we did… classified… so I better not tell you or I would have to kill you and I don’t want that…. (just kidding of course) lol
