ideas to make anyone’s birthday unforgettable...

Birthdays are among the few times of the year that people can celebrate themselves and feel special. It is because a birthday is a celebration of one’s existence and a thanksgiving for another great year of life. That is why birthdays are often celebrated with a fabulous party with family and friends. It is even more memorable if close people give the celebrant unique birthday gifts.
To make other anyone’s birthday special, all you have to do something remarkable. You could express your greetings and wishes, write a poem or a song, send some flowers or balloons, bake a cake, treat them to a one-day spa session, or arrange a party.
Birthdays can be special without spending much money for a present. Remember that anything that sincerely comes from the heart is all that matters.

dressing your child like a rock star...

Dressing your child as a princess, prince, or fairy are common costumes for children. Why not let your child stand out by dressing him up as a rock star? The market is full of rock baby apparel that is worth checking out. The best times to show off his new fashion are during birthday parties, costume parties and other upscale social events that your child could attend occasionally. You can still keep a little of that rock star vibe no matter where you are by keeping his shirt un-tucked. It may be tough to carry out a rock star look during school days because of accepted dress codes. But you can add a touch of the rock star look through his hair. Try this look on your baby or toddler and see his rock star side shine through.
When dressing your child as a rock star, you have consider all areas of attire, including: the clothes, hair, hat, belt, shoes, accessories and, most especially, the attitude.
Once you follow and match your child’s clothes, he or she will be the cutest and coolest kid on the block – or at least, at the party.

latex mattress for a fabulous night’s sleep...

There are various kinds of mattresses available on the market. Every type is designed with the specific need and particular sleeping style of an individual.
Some of the best types of mattresses to fit various needs and will give you a restful night of sleep: innerspring mattress, memory foam mattress, latex mattress, air mattress, and water mattress.
A latex mattress can either be made natural or synthetic materials. This type of mattress is capable of providing the whole body with maximum support. It is able to respond faster to variations in positions as compared to a memory foam. A natural latex foam is eco-friendly and is cooler for you to sleep on. The good thing about a latex mattress is its resistance to dust mites, too.
Have a good night sleep!!!

store old photographs...

Taking photographs is a great way of preserving memories and moments. These bits of the past should be treasured and preserved for the future generations to appreciate. There are several things to note in order for photographs to last and maintain their quality, particularly in the storage aspect.
Important tips on how to properly store old photographs include: choosing archival-quality materials, using non-acidic materials, washing hands before handling photographs, choosing a conducive storage environment, creating reproductions, refraining from eating or drinking when handling photographs, avoid exposing photos to damaging substances, and don’t mix up photographs.
Choose storage materials that have been labeled as appropriate for archival purposes. Old photographs may be stored using plastic sleeves and must be made of uncoated polyester, polyethylene or polypropylene. The use of such materials will definitely protect your photos from dirt, dust, fingerprints and other harmful elements in the environment. However, hand-colored prints, film-based negatives or prints with damaged surfaces must not be stored in plastic sleeves.
Photographs can prove to be valuable family heirlooms to be shared by the next generation. They give us an instant access to the past and all the memories that come with it. Storing photographs requires much patience and care and is certainly worth the trouble.

homemade gift ideas...

Gift-giving does not have to be difficult or expensive. In fact, you don’t always have to step out of the house and hit the malls to look for presents for your loved ones. You can find and make your own gifts using stuff you already have at home, particularly in your kitchen. From wrapped nut gifts to homemade cookies, the great thing about homemade gifts is that you can add a personal and unique touch to it and make the person feel that it really comes from you.
You can give out gifts using stuff or ingredients that are readily available in the house. Some great homemade gift ideas that can be found or made in your kitchen are chocolate-dipped nuts, molded candles and muffin mix in a jar.
Gifts do not have to be expensive or bought from a store. Usually, people pay more attention to the thought behind the present. Homemade gifts are a great way of expressing yourself and letting the other person know that you actually made a gift just for them.

what should I wear.....???????

As per usual Sally from already pretty brought us this post that is thoughtful and right-on.
It definitely got me thinking….
And I reached the conclusion that for some reason (note to myself: try to find this reason), I’m becoming my worst critic person.
Almost 3 years ago I wrote a post about Dressing over 40 where I tell that “The forty-plus woman no longer fits the former labels of “mature, middle-aged or older.”” And I still believe in all that I wrote in that post.
So why now I’ve been asking myself some questions like “Is this my age appropriated?” And I wrestle with personal questions about my style and fashion. Seems that instead of being more confident I’m still insecure about my style, I’m feeling fragile. Maybe because this hasn’t been a good year….

Should I must continue my search… Maybe I’m not ready to leave…

(Note to self: learn not to expose that much)

"No Car Day" in the city....

September 22 marks the “Car-Free Day” in many cities and towns of the world in a bid to encourage people to leave their cars at home and join the campaign “Space for People.”
In 2000 the event was established as a Europe-wide initiative by the European Commission.
On “No Car Day” there are special 'green zones' in hundreds of cities. These normally vehicle congested areas are open only to pedestrians, bicycles, and buses from 7am to 7pm.
My city is one that takes part of this event, with the most important streets closed to car traffic and lots of people walking in the middle of it.
That’s where I took these pictures…. At the middle of the city main street… (Well it wasn’t a very comfortable situation with everybody looking at me and wondering what I was doing, because they knew I wasn’t a tourist…. So I just laugh!!)

The temperature is slowly dropping and a blazer can be already precious during some periods of the day.
I guess Fall is really arriving….

about Rising Signs...

Since I was born on January 10th my sign is Capricorn, but very often Hubby used to tell me that many times I didn’t act like it was supposed to a Capricorn.
Being a curious of these Astrology things (but not the horoscope in the newspaper), I searched on Internet and I made a birth chart which told me that my rising sign is Virgo and it makes all the difference.
The rising sign, more commonly known as the Ascendant, is one of the astrology signs in the Zodiac that is rising on the eastern horizon the moment you were born.
It is said to speak of first impressions or of how you appear to others. Oftentimes, you may disagree with what others have to say about you the first time you meet, and you may sometimes be unaware of these traits.
Your rising sign reflects your outer image that you may not even see at all. It can also speak of your physical beauty and how you regard your appearance.
Although it does not entirely make up your personality, your rising sign contributes much to your being, as it also speaks of your initial reactions to new situations or new environments. Its traits show up right away, unlike your Sun sign characteristics that you and others will discover over time.
Many astrology websites offer tools to help you instantly determine your rising sign. You can also purchase birth charts with the special points already indicated for your convenience.
As long as you provide your exact birth place and time details, you can accurately identify your rising sign, or you Ascendant.
After determining and interpreting your rising sign traits, you are on your way to understanding and accepting yourself and other people better.

when the streets had no name and the city was empty….

These pictures were taken last Monday (September 13th) witch means almost a week ago.
The city was empty because it was a local holiday, Our Lady of Miracles’ Day. It’s very interesting because it’s a populace religious occurrence with many people going from theirs home to the festivities place walking, sometimes during so many hours occasionally with bare feet, “paying” their promises to Our Lady.

My face isn’t that good because I was in the middle of a liver crisis… luckily (and thanks to some pills) I’m better now.

On another note today and tomorrow are special days… today is my dear sister Birthday and tomorrow it’s her husband’s.
Happy Birthday to you both!!!!!! Have a piece of cake for me… lol

Soon I hope we will meet again for happier times than the last one.
Love you!!!!!

about white noise...

White noise or white sound is defined as a random signal that has a uniform frequency spectrum.
It can be distinguished as an unvarying and steady droning sound. The concept of white noise is especially useful in masking or eliminating other unwanted noise or sounds, like the sound of traffic.
White noise machines are used specifically for this purpose. You can actually make white noise if you want a little privacy or simply want to zone out of any disturbing noises in the environment. Parents who are taking care of babies also use white noise machines to keep the infant from getting disturbed while sleeping.
Some ways that you can make white noise include using a small fan, buying a sound machine, using speakers or a music system, and using an old radio.
Today’s world is filled with noise pollution and distractions in the form of unwanted sounds. Despite being quite simple, the concept of white noise is actually very useful for resolving this problem.

giving corporate gifts...

Sometimes professionals give business gifts to thank their customers for previous transactions or to strengthen relationship with a client. Other times business gifts are given to promote continued patronage. No matter your reason for giving one, you want to make sure your gifts are impressive and memorable. To do that, look for quality gifts that express your genuine appreciation for the business relationship.
When you want to give a corporate gift that leaves a lasting impression, follow these simple tips: know your company, find out if colleagues are also giving corporate gifts to your shared associates, familiarize yourself with your customer’s company, know your client, and understand your gift supplier’s products and service qualities.
To give your client the best and most appropriate corporate gifts it is helpful to know his interests. What does he loves to do in his free time away from the office? If you have given him gifts before, think about the ones he really liked and appreciated. If you aren’t sure, see which ones he displays in his office. Consider whether or not he would like his gifts delivered at home or at his workplace.

Lady Gaga's meat dress...

We know she’s “l’enfant terrible”, but I think this time she lose it.

Lady Gaga’s hat, dress and boots, which is thought to have been real meat, although that has not been confirmed, was a touch outrĂ©

As a vegetarian I’m still in shock!!!!

Well she sure got attention, but does she need attention that bad?

tip of the day... sandalwood for skincare

Many skincare products contain natural ingredients and oils that exhibit important properties.
Skincare products like argan oil anti aging are becoming popular because of the effectiveness of their natural properties. Essential oils from the exotic sandalwood plant are also known to fight wrinkles and make skin healthier and more radiant. Sandalwood’s anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial characteristics, as well as its inherent fragrance, make it worthy of being part of anyone’s skincare regimen.
You can look for this natural ingredient in the beauty products you use, or you can buy sandalwood powder and essential oils yourself and prepare your own skincare product.
Pamper yourself with a beauty treatment at home.

that’s the way it is….

Hello my dear readers and blogging friends. It’s been a while…

I’ve been too busy at the office and it changes all my routines. Besides I feel much more tired like yesterday, when I arrived home I just lay down on bed to rest “a bit”. When I find myself it was already 1:30 am of today.

I wish I had more time to check your blogs;
I wish I had more time to write my posts;
I wish I had more imagination to get my looks;
I wish the weather would help;
I wish…
I wish…
I wish...

I wish so many things…. But the truth is that life is just the way it is!!!!!

tip of the day... storing and keeping DVDs durable...

The thought of being able to save and preserve memories, music, images and other important data files on something envisioned to last virtually forever is quite tempting.
DVDs are known for being a practical choice for storing data because of their storage capacity. They are also popular for their archival longevity.
In fact, experts have said that with proper handling and treatment, DVDs may last up to 50 years.
Unfortunately, many of us may just think that using plastic sleeves for archiving or stacks of DVDs is sufficient in keeping them durable. Actually, there are several basic things that we tend to forget but are actually very important in order to maintain the durability and lifespan of our DVDs.
In order to maintain the durability of DVDs, you must store them in a case that is specifically designed for DVD storage, handle DVDs properly, clean DVDs regularly and with care, avoid exposure to direct light and heat, label them using appropriate materials, and regularly clean and maintain your DVD player.
DVDs have provided us with an effective way of preserving and saving important data for a longer span of time. In order to get the most of this type of archiving material, we must take care of our DVDs properly.

still the matchy-matchy issue…

After wearing a mourning attire for some months as I’ve been wearing and avoiding the bright colours I find myself with a different style.
My friend T often says to me that it’s so different that people can easy see the difference.
Yes, I know that lately my outfits are more coordinate and matchy…. And instead of feeling bored I feel elegant. Hmmm….. this makes me worry and wonder… Am I being uninteresting????????? Am I disappointing the people who liked to see my unusual colour combos?

But let’s see what’s in trends….
So, according to style.com:
“The way to wear color this fall: head to toe, believe it or not. Tomas Maier sleekly paired a rosy blouse with red leather trousers, while Tory Burch showed an orange sweater and skirt with matching lipstick and leggings. On the cooler end: Oscar de la Renta's blue tweed suit with coordinating checkered tights, and a bodacious, bright purple frock and leggings combo at Mark Fast. Turns out "matchy-matchy" is now a compliment.”

I guess I can always validate my new way of feeling fashion with this…. (lol)

in a fashion rut...??????

I’ve been reading fashion magazines…
I’ve been checking fashion blogs…
I went to my hairstyle and done my hair…

However I do find myself lately staring hopelessly into my closet, dreadful of what's before my eyes as if I’m looking into a frightful abyss……

Am I in a fashion rut or am I overwhelmed with so much information that I can’t process?????
