Yves Saint Laurent.... Le film

The Yves Saint Laurent film directed by Jalil Lespert recounts the turbulent life of one of the most famous French couturiers, whose work was heavily influenced by his personal life.
The trailer begins in 1957 as Yves Saint Laurent, played to perfection by Pierre Niney, is named head of design at Dior. Documenting the designer's inspirations, his relationship with Pierre Bergé - his partner in both life and business - and the Ballet Russes runway show in 1976, the film retraces the history of one of the most successful couturiers from the first sketches to the final fittings on the models, played amongst others by Charlotte Le Bon.
Before the film’s official release, Bergé told WWD: “I am blown away by Pierre Niney’s performance. It really disconcerted me, it even upset me, because it’s very difficult. At times, I thought it was Yves Saint Laurent himself. That’s huge.”

I’m curious about it!

  1. Wow, really would like to see this film. Thanks for sharing this information.

  2. I've heard whisperings about this film. It does look great and I'm glad they only added subtitles instead of dubbing it. I much prefer to hear it in French.
