Très Chic Style Bits #9 | the leopard jacket

Hello my dear readers and blogging friends!
Hope you entered 2014 in the best possible way and may it be full of blessings for all.

And with the New Year our Link Up Party “Très Chic Style Bits” returns to its normal.
As you know, link ups are a great way to meet new friends, and gain exposure for whatever you've been working on.
In our Linky your post doesn’t have to be just Fashion related, but it can also be Lifestyle connected, how to do something with style (a decoration, a way to exhibit a recipe, how to present a table for guests, etc….), anything and everything that makes your life stylish.
At the bottom of this post is the button you must click to had your link.

This is what I wore yesterday.
The New Year brought some bad weather, cold and wind. So I dug in my closet for a jacket that could make me feel warm.
I found this leopard jacket that in fact I didn’t wear from more than a year. Don’t ask me why, I don’t have a logic reason for that.
But wearing it yesterday allows me to join with Anne at Spy Girl for 52 Pickup which theme this week is “You haven't worn for a year”.

Hubby was not very fond of this outfit. “You look too dark” he said.
And he is right, I use to play more with colours. In fact when I started this blog I could manage four colours in an outfit. But we all change… and some events which I passed made me change.
But with this look, if I didn’t play with colours, I played with textures, I added suede, pleather and faux fur. And I also break a rule that I grow up hearing “Don’t mix black with brown”, remember that?

plaid again..... and with leopard.......

 photo plaidandleopard3_zps0b1267b0.jpg

There’s this weird thing I have, most of the times, when I give a big smile or laugh I close my eyes……. but Hubby says that he prefers the big smile, even with the eyes closed.

I’m not a pattern gal, I prefer to play with colours than with prints. I think I have no skills for it, most of my clothes are solid colour (unless my scarves that most of them are printed).
But this season I’ve been so attracted by tartan….. and I’m so in love with this pants that I think I could live in them for a week.
I’m also a big fan of leopard, so last Monday I asked myself “why not put them together”, not very close, but still in the same look.
I liked the result. But I think next time I’ll wear these pants I’ll combine them with a brighter colour.
What about you, what do you think about mixing plaid with leo?

The last couple of days we have been under a storm (and I’m choosing comfort over style)…. cold, wind, rain, humidity….. oh well…. it’s winter in the Island!

Très Chic Style Bits #5 | mixing stripes with leopard......

Once again is time for our Link Up Party “Très Chic Style Bits”.
I want to thank very much to all the lovely bloggers who linked up last week and I hope you will show in this week and that some other bloggers will join us.
Since this is a new linky I would like to ask you if you can help me to spread the word.
At the bottom of this post is the button you must click to had your link.

This is what I wore yesterday when hunting for shoes, (by the way I didn’t get any). You know, I’m struggling with shoes. I always have been a high heels girl and for many years I was lucky enough to have a free parking car, outside my office’s building.

But then “they” took away from us the possibility to park there. So if I don’t want to pay to park all day (and having a huge parking bill at the end of the month) I have to leave my car in a park that makes me walk about 15 minutes to my work.

Hmmm… and the Portuguese cobblestone of the city, despite all its beauty, is not the more appropriated road surface to walk with high heels...

I tried to take my heels in a bag and change the flat shoes for them when I arrived at the office, but that didn’t work. I always felt weird.
And then I realized that I no longer I’m able to walk on those high heels I have. Is this a sign???? Is this a "normal" thing?????
But I’m not giving up of heels, I want at least some middle ones. However all that I see in stores are flats or super high ones.

But back to my outfit I really like to mix strips with leopard.

Hubby took me these photos in the street outside my home. At some point I saw that my neighbor’s four dogs were all seated together in line, looking at us like if they were watching an entertainment. That made me laugh a lot as you can see a glance in the picture below.

three colours and one print....

Hello my dear readers and blogging friends.
I hope everything is great with you.
I miss you all!!!
I haven’t been a good blogger… I know.
However life has those things and we must set some priorities even if they are just our very own priorities.
But I would like to share with you my last shoots for a challenge made by Sylvia from 40+ Style, in which I participated. The challenge was to wear three colours and one print in the same outfit.

wild things.... some wild things.... on Halloween day....

So are you prepared to celebrate Halloween? I hope that those you celebrate it will have lots of fun.

Here, at the Island, Halloween is not a tradition, but since tradition isn’t what it was anymore, each year we see more and more expressions of people celebrating it. Halloween is being imported from other cultures, especially the parties. The kids still go door to door asking for something (like candies, gums, chocolates and money) on November 1, meaning tomorrow.

Tomorrow it'll be a Holiday “All Saints Day”, but it might be the last year because with the crisis we’re going trough some Holidays are going to be cut and probably November 1 will be one of those.

The outfit I wore today it’s a bit of monochromatic but it pleased me very much. The animal print details were the focus of it, especially the boots match with the belt.
Looking for the pictures I realized that everything I wore today was bought on-line in La Redoute…. Interesting I guess.
