My trip to Paris..... what I wore.... first day....

Spring/Summer 2014 Paris Fashion Week would be on the next week. But what moved me to go to Paris in that particular week (September 17 to 21) was a way far from anything Fashion related.

When Sister called me and said she would be traveling, with her husband, to the Island on holidays and would spend her Birthday here, I knew I had to do something. Sister always dreamed to go visit Paris, even more than I.
So what a better place to celebrate her Birthday than Paris????
Then I started to press everyone and it came true all the preparations to go on our trip to Paris.

When the time came to pack, we checked the weather forecast and it wasn’t very good. We should be prepared for all kind of weather. But it’s something that we, living on the Island of “four seasons in a day”, are more or less used to. The only thing we had to be very careful was with the shoes. Paris is a city to walk, so flats and shoes that are broken in are a must.

And then our adventure trip of four days in Paris began. Such a WOW trip.
Since I was focused on having a good time, visiting the most we could and enjoying Paris, I didn’t take any pictures with the purpose of showing my outfits better.
So I will show you the pieces of the look and then some pictures in it, that give you a perception how I looked.

Our hotel was in the middle of “Quartier Latin”, near La Sorbonne and Les Jardins de Luxembourg.
We arrived latter night on September 17th.

The first day (September 18th) we started going to the Arc of Triumph and then walked through the Champs Elisée.
Next “Grands Magasins du Printemps”, “Galeries Lafayette “ and ‘’L’Opéra ‘’.
On the way to Place the La Concorde and just before we stopped to lunch, it started to rain. It was our “rainy” day.

Here is what I wore on my first day in Paris:

The first Parisian bridge where love gets 'locked' forever was Pont des Arts...... now it's so full that other bridges are being used...... I know the Parisians don’t like it, but I think it’s so lovely that I clamped a padlock on a bridge..........
(My hair was a mess with the wind and rain we got that day)

On second day….. well, second day will be for another time. I’ll be back…… until then :)

TO – 11/01 - they call Alzheimer's "The Long Goodbye," and I can see why…

Mother is depressed… she has clear moments where she knows and is very sad and sorry for what is happening to her. And so AM I!!!!
When a loved one is diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease we are given the facts, there is an intellectual understanding of these facts; but it is difficult to transfer that “in the head” understanding to the heart.
My Mother used to be such a social butterfly (unlike me), she loved to entertain and have fun with friends and family. She loved to cook and loved to watch everyone enjoying her cooking.
Now Mom definitely doesn't eat enough…
Oh Mother, you don’t know how fast I hold on to the remnants of what your mind has let go, misplaced, erased of yourself, as you walk to the end of the nursing hall.

I definitely love this top, the print, the colour, the fabric and the cut make it a stylish and well put together piece that can pull up some jeans or match a lady like bottom to a chic look.
It’s absolutely a piece to wear a lot, even in winter. Thank you so much, my Sexy Goddaughter!!!!

TO – 09/09 – questions… random thoughts… transition to Fall…

Why almost pictures in just about street style blogs are of thin and young people???

Despite they can be unflattering, I’m very much into the pleated tapered rolled up pants, well maybe not the Chloe’s super oversized versions, but something like the Marc Jacobs Pleated Carrot Trousers.

The weather here is resembling Fall, which doesn’t mean that Summer has gone, because the Island climate is so unstable that it can come back. So while I can I will continue to wear my transition to Fall (some new) clothes.

OMG, I’m feeling frustrated… I feel I need a trip (which is so much expensive) to mainland… to do some shopping, even if it would be just windows… the Island doesn’t fulfil my whish list…

TO - 09/08 - defining an already defined term – vegetarian… and fall forward…

Hello, my dear readers and blogging friends!!! I hope everything is great for all of you!!
Oh I’ve been missing you, but I think things now are becoming more on tracks…

Fortunately Mother is getting better of her breathing problems, and is already breathing without O2 and is recovering. I’m very happy about that as you can imagine.

So I hope I will slowly find more time to blog, moreover Fall is almost here and Fall’s fashion is so intriguing.
I’ve seen some editorials and I’m so into some trends… well taking the risk to disappoint some of you, I must say I’m loving dark colours (that I also can mix with those 80’s neon brights), and those shoulders… and the accessories… Well we’ll have lots of time to talk about that all.

On another note I want to thank everyone that left such nice and kind comments on my last post. As you have guessed by the title those pictures were taken on my vacations. I will post a few more to show you other outfits I wore.

As most of you know, I’m a vegetarian (more precisely an ovo-lacto vegetarian), and I also like to read some forums about vegetarianism.
I read this post and one comment that took my attention was this one that I would like to repost here.

“My issue is with people who eat fish and chicken and call themselves "vegetarian", a term which excludes fish and poultry as well and their derivatives (ex. chicken bouillon, fish sauce in Asian restaurants). Not only is it an ideological issue, it is a practical one. It makes it even more difficult for us "100% vegetarians" to find something to eat in restaurants. I have been to some restaurants advertising themselves as "vegetarian" whose daily menus consisting mostly of dishes with chicken or fish, greatly restricting the choice for "100% vegetarians". I was also told very adamantly by the owner of a Thai restaurant in Montreal where all the "vegetarian" dishes contained fish sauce that dishes containing fish sauce were "vegetarian" and that "vegans" were those who did not eat fish and chicken.”

The problem at this point is that most non-vegetarians, which we (vegetarians) are all responsible for correcting, one person at a time, aren’t used and it makes them certain confusion about how can people just “eat vegetables”. I truly think people are intrigued by another individual practicing vegetarianism, but for themselves their not truly down for the cause.
But it’s important to define the term “vegetarian”, because as it was said it just makes things more difficult…

The weather here has been crazy, lots of humidity (great for the hair... curly hair of course, not mine.. lol) and heat, it seemed we were suffocating, but today the temperature lowered a bit. I hope it will go on as it’s almost officially Fall.

I don’t like much today’s pictures, it was windy and I had to take them inside at my office.
But I was so “fall forward” wearing my new top from the new Fall’s collection of Mango, and I really liked it. I think the pictures do not do it justice.

Oh well, maybe next time…

Meantime many things have happened.

Sister Seeker and her husband went back home. I had some bad mood days. I miss my closer family, because more than sisters we are friends forever.

Sher from Fashion After Forty was kind enough to show us how gorgeous she looks with the BB Dakota Purple Marilyn Dress, the giveaway from Searching the Inner Me… in partnership with Chickdowntown.com.
Thank you Sher and I recommend that you’ll take a look.

Hubby and I, we celebrated our weeding anniversary. It was a great dinner… You want to know more? No, that’s too much information…

The summer has been crazy, and like many days of this August, today was cloudy but with lots of luminosity, which is terrible for me, because of my contact lenses. That’s why I have my face all creased in these photos of today’s outfit. I know I should have put the sunglasses. “I should…. I should….”

Well if I wasn’t working today I’m sure that I would have to do the ritual of the sun. Don’t you know what it is???? Oh you must check it. You will love it!!!!

So, my dear readers and blogging friends, I hope you’ll have a great week. I also hope I’ll be able to check your blogs more often and start to post more regular.
I have a long “I should…” list…

TO – 05/07 – can I call it Boho-chic inspired…?

Boho-chic is a fashion style drawing on various bohemian and hippie influences…

"Boho", an abbreviation of bohemian, style is a 70’s-inspired.
It’s an effortless style that’s all about being free-spirited and independent and is the perfect look for the transition from Winter to Spring and Summer to Autumn.

Think ethnic, earthy and eclectic, a mix of luxurious textures and contrasting, layered fabrics. Loose, unstructured skirts and tunics are often made from natural fabrics like linen and float cotton in organic colours and the best accessories tend to be chunky and made of wood, stone and leather. Preferably all three!

Popular components of this great look are skinny jeans and culottes layered with feminine smock tops and wrap dresses and leather, suede and fur gilets. Tunics worn over long layered skirts or jeans are often loosely belted and topped with vintage jewellery and multi-layered beads.

Accessories are a must... Express yourself with affordable accessories and details! Boho fashion doesn't have to be expensive. Instantly transform a pair of jeans and a white tunic shirt into a boho outfit with a brown leather hobo bag, ethnic embroidered scarf, gold and layered necklace, multiple bangle bracelets, gladiator sandal shoes and so on.
Do wear pieces that create a statement and that people will notice or even comment.

The great news is that nothing needs to match as such. Think relaxed, think individual and enjoy this go-anywhere at any age style!

One of the important things you'll have to remember when it comes to fashion is to always personalize a look to make it more YOU. So adjust boho fashion into your own liking and flair!
