Très Chic Style Bits #16 | Street Style Milan Fashion Week Fall 2014

The street style landed in Milan for another round of Fall/Winter 2014/2015 shows.
Milan is the last stop before Fashion Month's big finale in Paris, but don't think street style stars are slacking, even though it seems like Spring is never going to come.
Like the showgoers in NYC and attendees in London, these women take the business of fashion very seriously — and every show is an opportunity to show off a brilliant flash of color, a great piece of outerwear, or a brand-new styling trick.

Yves Saint Laurent.... Le film

The Yves Saint Laurent film directed by Jalil Lespert recounts the turbulent life of one of the most famous French couturiers, whose work was heavily influenced by his personal life.
The trailer begins in 1957 as Yves Saint Laurent, played to perfection by Pierre Niney, is named head of design at Dior. Documenting the designer's inspirations, his relationship with Pierre Bergé - his partner in both life and business - and the Ballet Russes runway show in 1976, the film retraces the history of one of the most successful couturiers from the first sketches to the final fittings on the models, played amongst others by Charlotte Le Bon.
Before the film’s official release, Bergé told WWD: “I am blown away by Pierre Niney’s performance. It really disconcerted me, it even upset me, because it’s very difficult. At times, I thought it was Yves Saint Laurent himself. That’s huge.”

I’m curious about it!

So vital that the $2,670 price tag didn't seem to slow anyone down for a second. It is already sold out all around the world or at least online at Prada.

Très Chic Style Bits #14 | Fall/Winter 2014-2015 Fashion Weeks....

It’s still winter, I’m not yet aware what fashion trends for Spring/Summer 2014 are and Fall/Winter 2014-2015 Fashion Weeks are live, with New York on the runways, followed by the other great cities of Fashion.

According to The CITIZENS of FASHION, New York’s could come with a few surprises, meaning that a new era might start. Let’s see which would be the most interesting:

Michelle Obama's style

On the day she turns 50 years, nothing like peeking some of the looks that mark the style of the American first  lady Michelle Obama, known even in another countries for being like an icon style.

Michelle is known for mixing, as few, textures, colours and accessories. And sometimes wears a designer piece as she is able, the next day, to appear at a public event with a H&M dress (already happened, actually).

In addition, Obama's wife knows how to take advantage of her body type. Marking the waist is one of her tricks, so the belts are her best allies - getting well over dresses, knitted cardigans, skirts and even coats.

High waist pieces, mixing colours, and wearing patterns are other tricks of the American first lady, used to make the most of her 1.80 m tall.

Here are some of her looks, truly inspiring........

Très Chic Style Bits #10 | the statement coat in street style

This was a crazy week!
New Year’s beginning at work is always too busy, Hubby didn’t feel very well and had the need to go to ER. Thanks God he’s better now.
The temperatures have been low for what’s normal for us at the Island. With all this cold I’ve been living in comfortable and warm clothes.
Oh…. and it was my Birthday (my friends with Hubby made me a surprise party, which was the adorable and funny part of the week).
With all those things I had no opportunity to take some photos. But as they say in show business “the show must go on” and I say “The link up party must go on”.
So here we are for another “Très Chic Style Bits”.
At the end of this post you can see how to do it.

With all this cold one important piece of our wardrobe has been the coat. This season statement coats are so in. I ordered a pink coat from Romwe, but I’m still waiting for it.
But street style, an important niche of fashion, is full of bold coats.
Here are some pictures that I found and think are stylish and cool.

I can’t give the proper credits because I just had this saved in a folder, sorry

fashion at your finger touch

With the first days of the New Year we are more curious to try new experiences. And so it is with fashion and apps.
There were times when we relied solely on fashion magazines and shop collections to give us style tips and information about latest fashion trends. Today we have one more fashion assistant – a smartphone. Mobile commerce has become especially important for fashion retailers.

Part of the reason could be the sense of urgency fashion often inspires–especially on sites where you have to act fast before someone else nabs the item you want–as well as many of our natural tendencies to impulse buy when it comes to fashion.
And retailers are pushing to make it easier for us to do so–optimizing their mobile apps and sites for more than just browsing and sharing, but also buying.

For instance Sammydress, an online fashion clothing store, that offers women's clothing, men's clothing, jewelry, bags, accessories, shoes, sexy lingerie, watches, toys and more, have sparked a whole new territory with the introduction of an iPhone app.
With a streamlined user interface, Sammydress's iPhone app gives you the convenience of shopping the website's countless products from anywhere, at anytime.
“Dress Online”, the Sammydress's iPhone app is a free app and has all these benefits:

- Friendly
Sign in with your existing Sammydress account to access your cart, payment and shipping options. Shop just as you do on the web.

- Find the Right Product Quickly
Use the powerful Search feature to find the right product for you - quickly and simply.

- Safe and Secure Payment
With PayPal's Security Technology, shop and pay safely on your mobile at all times, support credit card– enjoy full protection.

- Great deals and promotions
Stay connected and never miss a sale. Get the latest information on deals, giveaways and special promotions.

- Check your Order Status at all times
Easily check your latest orders and browse order history and details. You can also view individual orders for more information.

Are you the type of person who always wanted to purchase products at competitive factory direct prices, fast and easy?
Download the app and enjoy a world of style for less. Enjoy speed, convenience and safe shopping.

mustard and black...... my quilted pleather jacket.... what do our clothes say about who we are...

 photo quiltedjacket4_zps25d5492b.jpg

There’s a fabulous line early on in "The Devil Wears Prada":
“Fashion is not about utility. An accessory is merely a piece of iconography used to express individual identity.”
What do our clothes say about who we are or who we think we are? How does the way we dress communicate messages about our identity? Is the desire to be "in fashion" universal, or is it unique to Western culture? How do fashions change?
Much of what we assume to be individual preference really reflects deeper social and cultural forces. Ours is an ambivalent social world, characterized by tensions over gender roles, social status, and the expression of sexuality.
What we wear and how we look is our only way to communicate who we are to people without dialogue. Clothes are indicators of our personalities, likes, values and subcultures we may be a part of. We are in a constant stage of reflecting our identity and the only way we can do that in the physical world is through our bodies. Our bodies are physical representations for defining how we choose to be perceived as individuals.

A quotation that I find interesting and related:

"Long before we're old enough to do anything on our own, we're old enough to dress ourselves. When we stand bewildered in a closet or a department store dressing room, what we're confronting is one of life's fundamental questions: Is this me? And: Would I like this to be me? Under what stretch of the imagination might this possibly be me? And finally: Who am I? ... Clothes are a constant act of self-definition ..."

Frimousses de Créateurs…. luxury dolls dressed by fashion designers…..

It has been 11 years since this extraordinary alliance began between the universe of luxury and a humanitarian movement. The greatest fashion designers, famous artists, creators of fine jewelry, and prominent personalities joined with UNICEF to help a vital humanitarian cause: Save the children of Darfur!

This joint venture gained momentum and mushroomed into an important annual event: Frimousses de Createurs. These dolls became real works of art, and a way for collectors and lovers of art and fashion to aid the children of Darfur.
This year's theme, "Wonderful Paris", honors the fashion capital that has been the setting of the Frimousses de Créateurs exhibition for more than 10 years.

The exhibition of this new edition will be held from November 25 to December 1 at the Petit Palais, a loyal partner of the event. The auction of these works, organized by Artcurial, will be held on December 2, 2013, in the evening at the Four Seasons Hotel George V, a new partner of the event.

With over one million vaccines distributed last year in Darfur, UNICEF and all partners of Frimousses de Créateurs hope "Wonderful Paris" will continue to bring hope and give a better future to the children of Darfur.
