Très Chic Style Bits #21 | blue and green.....

We had the luck to have a day of sunshine last week, when I took these pictures, seeming that Spring could stay, but then the weather returned to the cold and rainy Winter…
It was a tough week for me, because I have been sick of my eyes. Well you know, I use contact lenses and with that conjunctivitis I had to stop wearing them and spent the less time on computer.
I’m feeling a bit better and so here we are for our weekly Link Up Party.
Don’t forget to share your post at the bottom of this.

green blazer blue pants

Every time I wear blue (yes, I can sure you, the pants are navy blue) with green I always remember my Mom who used to say that one of the fashion rules was not to mix blue with green.
And here I am wearing them together……

Très Chic Style Bits #17 | Is this worth to publish, in green and plaid.....

Although these pictures give the impression that the weather here, at the Island, is good this was one of the few days that the sun shined last week.
I got sick one of the days and I didn’t go to work….. a danger combination… me alone with my thoughts.

I had time to think about the evolution of the 40+ fashion/style blogs and my place in that niche.

Très Chic Style Bits #12 | SEO concerns in green sweater, pleather pants

Once again time for our Link Up Party “Très Chic Style Bits”.
Our last party was great and all due to the stylish bloggers that took some time to take part of it. A big thank you to all.
At the bottom of this post is the button you must click to had your link.

To tell you the truth, I was never much dedicated to see what my blog’s stats were.
But one thing I was very proud about was my Page Rank. I had a PR of 4, as you can see in this picture) which was very good.
Suddenly last December my Page Rank downed to 3. Despite it’s not that bad, but for me I felt terrible. And I don’t know why it happened.
So lately I’ve been learning about SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and I’ve been finding it very interesting. Maybe I’ll try a few things I’ve learned and with this I’ll get back my older PR.
Tell me do you use to check what your Page Rank is? Do you apply SEO in your blog?

When I took these photos it was raining, thus I had to take them indoors. So I utilized the entrance of our main Church.

Très Chic Style Bits #8 | again the plaid pants..... sixty seconds....

Once again time for our Link Up Party “Très Chic Style Bits”.
At the bottom of this post is the button you must click to had your link.

 photo plaidandleather3_zpsdc8377c4.jpg

This is what I wore last Friday. I started to dress the plaid pants because I wanted to join with Anne at Spy Girl for 52 Pickup which theme this week is to combine as many plaids as you can in one outfit.
But I ended with just one plaid and realizing that the few plaids I have don’t go well with each other
.
It was another Friday 13th…. Have you spent it well?????
Are you superstitious about it?
Me, I have no paraskevidekatriaphobia (if you want to know more about it you can red this post I did on one Friday 13th).
I think someone said “Don't be afraid that your life will end, be afraid that it will never begin.”

As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let you down probably will. You will have your heart broken probably more than once and it's harder every time...

You'll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken. You'll fight with your best friend. You'll blame a new love for things an old one did. You'll cry because time is passing too fast, and you'll eventually lose someone you love...

So take too many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you've never been hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you'll never get back...

Yesterday we had a Christmas dinner party, so I had no time to prepare this post, that's the reason it's live later than the others Linky Parties.

falling for plaid..... the tartan pants.....

Computers and the Internet were supposed to make life easier; instead, people are busier than ever.
Overworked overachievers suffer from a worrying sense of anxiety.
We mess our minds with vague promises about what we should do, what we could do. But there is always more to do than there is time to do it.
But most of the stress that people feel comes from not keeping agreements they've made with themselves.
When we tell ourselves we have to do something and then don't do it, we experience self-doubt and frustration. We can fool all of the people some of the time, but we can't fool ourselves for a second.
There's usually an inverse relationship between how much something is on our mind and how much we're actually doing about it.
We are our own perfect victims and enemies.

When we came back home from our trip to Paris, last September, we had to stop for a night in Lisbon. Luckily I had some time to go to do some shopping.
One of the pieces I bought then was these tartan pants. Despite I know they weren’t the best for my body shape, I wanted so much some tartan pants, because tartan is back in a big way this season.
So when I saw these pants with just a subtle pattern (not screaming and calling for attention), I knew I had to give them a try.
In the end I like them very much and I think it’s a way for me to wear the trend without compromising much the look.
I also like this top a lot. I’m a big fan of lace, another trend, and the details of lace it has, combined with its colour (for the ones who just know me recently, I’m a big fan of colour), makes it a winner.
The pictures were taken in my office building (a palace) garden, last Monday.

Très Chic Style Bits #1 - Business Dress Codes.......

I’m so trilled and anxious (and a bit afraid) with the first Link Up Party Très Chic Style Bits”. If you want to participate, which I hope so, it’s very easy. At the bottom of this post is the button you must click to had your link.

Today I decided to talk about Corporate Dress using a post I wrote many time ago.

As we all know first impressions count. If your goal to getting dressed for work is to project a professional, competent image, regardless of your employment level or career path be sure that getting dressed for the office doesn't mean leaving your personal style behind.

The dress code has nothing to do with fashion. It is about making workers feel more confident, more professional.
However, despite most companies don't have specific guidelines about what to wear to work, some organizations encourage employees to dress according to some “Business Dress Codes*, which are:
Formal Business Attire- For women this constitutes business suits (a matched skirt and jackets) and, in most workplaces, pantsuits (matched pants and blazer). Closed-toe shoes (no sandals), blouses, hose and conservative hair, jewellery and makeup are expected.
Corporate Casual Looks-Working women have interpreted this to mean everything from shorts to sundresses, but in its most literal sense it means "smart business." Dressy pants and a blouse, sleek jersey knits and skirts and tops are all examples of corporate casual. Denim, T-shirts and flip-flops are only acceptable in the most casual of work environments.
Casual Friday - Depending on the business, this can mean anything from corporate casual instead of formal looks or "Wear your company logo polo and jeans." If in doubt, ask a superior. One of the best clues to company dress codes is what your boss wears.

Colour plays a big part in professional image. Traditional career colours include red (aggressive), navy (trustworthy), grey (conservative) and black (chic). Most of these colours work well in pantsuits, skirts and shoes and mix back with softer feminine colours that are appropriate like ice blue, lilac, soft pink and ivory.
*information found on about.com: Women's Fashion

Fortunately at my office we don’t have a formal dress code, (despite I have my own office dress code), and so we can play with corporate look as with casual look. Or also mix them… which is great, because in a way the sky can be the limit…. Well with some limits…. Lol

And here is what I wore last Friday. I had to take my pictures when I got home, because I forgot my camera but anyway it was raining, so I couldn’t have taken them outdoors.
