three colours and one print....

Hello my dear readers and blogging friends.
I hope everything is great with you.
I miss you all!!!
I haven’t been a good blogger… I know.
However life has those things and we must set some priorities even if they are just our very own priorities.
But I would like to share with you my last shoots for a challenge made by Sylvia from 40+ Style, in which I participated. The challenge was to wear three colours and one print in the same outfit.

navy blue blazer always a classic with anything…

As you know I’m a high heels gal. Until last April I had no problems with that, because we had a free parking car outside my office’s building.

But then “they” took away from us the possibility to park there. So if I don’t want to pay to park all day (and having a huge parking bill at the end of the month) I have to leave my car in a park that makes me walk about 15 minutes to my work.

Hmmm… and the Portuguese cobblestone, despite all its beauty, is not the more appropriated road surface to walk with high heels... so that’s my drama with shoes lately…

Some details

Today I had such a tasty lunch. I ate vegetarian of course crepes, don’t they look good?

This is the first time that I’m linking up with The Pleated Poppy in What I wore Wednesday. I’m sure I’ll have much fun and inspiration from there. Go check it too :)

styling a black maxi skirt...

Don’t you love when a trend will last you more than one season? I do.
That’s what happened with maxi skirts and dresses that were a must for Spring and still are for Fall/Winter.
I bought this black maxi skirt early this year, when I went to spend New Year’s in Toronto, Canada, with the purpose to wear it on Spring.
But somehow I found myself in some kind of a rut where I wasn’t able to style it.
In my mind this wasn’t an ordinary skirt, despite its black colour seemed to be easy to combine with any other colour.
Finally I said “let’s move on with this” and here it is how it ended.
I must say I felt so great with it, comfy and yet stylish (moreover it has side pockets), that I’m glad I can continue to wear it forward this new season. But how… well I don’t know, when the time comes I’ll see…

And what about you, how do you feel about maxi skirts? How do you like to style them?
Insights are welcomed.

when it’s a matter of style, not of a trend….

Looking to some old pictures on this blog I realized why it’s easy for me to spot this Fall’s colour blocking trend. It’s because I’ve been wearing it before… so I guess for me it’s more than a trend, it’s part of my style.
Sounds logic, don’t you think?

I hope all my dear readers and blogging friends living in Canada had a Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

my new ring and the Third Eye......

When I look to my new ring I can’t help but seeing an eye. And despite the image is very different what comes to my mind is the Third Eye.
The Third Eye Chakra is located in the center of the head behind our eyebrows. This Chakra is related to our ability to perceive clearly. Intuition, insight, and imagination are also associated with this Chakra.
According to the Reiki knowledge an open third-eye chakra is the source of our intuition and clairvoyance (vision beyond ordinary sight) as well as our ability to visualize and manifest. Blockages of this chakra abound, resulting in fear of the imagination, dreams and our "irrational" intuitive insights. Physical symptoms of third-eye imbalance may include persistent headaches (especially in the center of the forehead), insomnia, anxiety and depression.

So, to prevent some of these I guess I’m addicted to wear the colour blocking trend. And I feel great with it. I know I make some heads turn back, but I really don’t care!

walking slowly to the bright side….

In one of the few sunshiny, but windy (my hair is a mess), days we had last week, I wore for the first time since my Mother’s loss a clothes’ piece in a brighter colour.

I’m slowly preparing for the brightness of the upcoming Spring…..

Meanwhile my dear friend Jesse from The Main Art Blog @ 4807 gave me the Stylish Blogger Award!

Thank you so much my friend and I recommend you all to go see the beautiful art pieces he makes and posts on his blog.

Well, as always the award came with some rules, but you know how (pseudo) maverick I am, so I leave them for later…

TO – 11/04 & 11/05 - ...the weather is still so warm, could this be Saint Martin's Summer?... expect a different post on the weekend…

We are already on November and the weather is still so warm. Could this be Saint Martin's Summer?

Are you asking what’s Saint Martin's Summer?
Well, in Portugal, where the saint's day is celebrated across the country, according to the most prevalent variation of the cloak story, Saint Martin cut off half of his cloak in order to offer it to a beggar and along the way he gave the remaining part to a second beggar.
As he faced a long ride in a freezing weather, the dark clouds cleared away and the sun shone so intensely that the frost melted away. As this evolution was extremely odd for the time of the year (early November), it is credited to God's intervention.
The phenomena of a sunny break to the chilly weather on Saint Martin's Day (11 November), which curiously enough still occurs today is called "VerĂ£o de SĂ£o Martinho" (Saint Martin's Summer) in honour of the cloak legend.

11/05 - on the wild side...

Today I went to cut a bit of my hair, hmmm…. but I’m not very pleased with it, or maybe it’s because of my “I went to bed after 5 am last night (or should I say this morning)” face.

I’m expecting to have a different post on the weekend, so… be alert.

TO - 09/30 - can animal print be worn with not so neutral colours...???

…I think it can with some precautions and without looking trashy. Don’t you?
I just can´t imagine that I must wear my leopard print cardigan only with black.

Well I suppose I’ve already told you that I’m not a prints woman. I really don’t know very much how to work with them, I just prefer to play with solid colours. But I’m trying…
I think fashion is something like not always playing for safe or it can be so boring, we must have fun now and then, daring to be considered strange.

I was considering in joining “The Second Annual Capsule Wardrobe Challenge” hosted by Jane from The Small Fabric Of My Life but things didn’t happen the way I liked. Maybe next time… or perhaps one week of my own…

I’m sorry about my irregular posting and commenting.
I’m sorry too to some new bloggers that have commented here and I hadn’t the time to return the visit.

TO – 09/16 – saved by the bell… I ended the day with cold…

This morning was so sunny… but as the day went by the sky became cloudy and when I left the office I wished I had a cardigan or a jacket with me as it was a bit chilly. That’s the weather on the Island… always unpredictable.

These photos were taken before I knew about my mother’s health conditions. I’m very worried about her, because she now refuses to eat.
The Small Fabric Of My Life was so kind enough to defy me to join “The capsule wardrobe challenge”.
Thank you so much!!!
I believe it’s such an interesting experience. Well, I’m thinking about it…

Today I wasn’t in the mood to show the details, I’m sorry… I know it’s more interesting, but you can click on the images to enlarge them.

Meantime many things have happened.

Sister Seeker and her husband went back home. I had some bad mood days. I miss my closer family, because more than sisters we are friends forever.

Sher from Fashion After Forty was kind enough to show us how gorgeous she looks with the BB Dakota Purple Marilyn Dress, the giveaway from Searching the Inner Me… in partnership with Chickdowntown.com.
Thank you Sher and I recommend that you’ll take a look.

Hubby and I, we celebrated our weeding anniversary. It was a great dinner… You want to know more? No, that’s too much information…

The summer has been crazy, and like many days of this August, today was cloudy but with lots of luminosity, which is terrible for me, because of my contact lenses. That’s why I have my face all creased in these photos of today’s outfit. I know I should have put the sunglasses. “I should…. I should….”

Well if I wasn’t working today I’m sure that I would have to do the ritual of the sun. Don’t you know what it is???? Oh you must check it. You will love it!!!!

So, my dear readers and blogging friends, I hope you’ll have a great week. I also hope I’ll be able to check your blogs more often and start to post more regular.
I have a long “I should…” list…
