Très Chic Style Bits #20 | What is a good blogger?

As I’m writing this, the weather outside is foggy, cold, gray and humid.
It’s supposed to be Spring. But here at the Island of Haze, Spring hasn’t sprung. Yet….

All week I’ve been living in pants and boots and heavy coats, but I made an attempt to get into the Spring spirit, wearing one of the SS/2014 trends, pastels, with my pink pastel cardigan.

But if Spring hasn’t come, our Link Up Party is here again. So have fun with us and link your post at the bottom of this.

I thought of starting this post with this phrase “I haven’t been a good blogger”. Then I questioned “But what’s a good blogger?”

Très Chic Style Bits #12 | SEO concerns in green sweater, pleather pants

Once again time for our Link Up Party “Très Chic Style Bits”.
Our last party was great and all due to the stylish bloggers that took some time to take part of it. A big thank you to all.
At the bottom of this post is the button you must click to had your link.

To tell you the truth, I was never much dedicated to see what my blog’s stats were.
But one thing I was very proud about was my Page Rank. I had a PR of 4, as you can see in this picture) which was very good.
Suddenly last December my Page Rank downed to 3. Despite it’s not that bad, but for me I felt terrible. And I don’t know why it happened.
So lately I’ve been learning about SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and I’ve been finding it very interesting. Maybe I’ll try a few things I’ve learned and with this I’ll get back my older PR.
Tell me do you use to check what your Page Rank is? Do you apply SEO in your blog?

When I took these photos it was raining, thus I had to take them indoors. So I utilized the entrance of our main Church.

Très Chic Style Bits #9 | the leopard jacket

Hello my dear readers and blogging friends!
Hope you entered 2014 in the best possible way and may it be full of blessings for all.

And with the New Year our Link Up Party “Très Chic Style Bits” returns to its normal.
As you know, link ups are a great way to meet new friends, and gain exposure for whatever you've been working on.
In our Linky your post doesn’t have to be just Fashion related, but it can also be Lifestyle connected, how to do something with style (a decoration, a way to exhibit a recipe, how to present a table for guests, etc….), anything and everything that makes your life stylish.
At the bottom of this post is the button you must click to had your link.

This is what I wore yesterday.
The New Year brought some bad weather, cold and wind. So I dug in my closet for a jacket that could make me feel warm.
I found this leopard jacket that in fact I didn’t wear from more than a year. Don’t ask me why, I don’t have a logic reason for that.
But wearing it yesterday allows me to join with Anne at Spy Girl for 52 Pickup which theme this week is “You haven't worn for a year”.

Hubby was not very fond of this outfit. “You look too dark” he said.
And he is right, I use to play more with colours. In fact when I started this blog I could manage four colours in an outfit. But we all change… and some events which I passed made me change.
But with this look, if I didn’t play with colours, I played with textures, I added suede, pleather and faux fur. And I also break a rule that I grow up hearing “Don’t mix black with brown”, remember that?

Très Chic Style Bits #8 | again the plaid pants..... sixty seconds....

Once again time for our Link Up Party “Très Chic Style Bits”.
At the bottom of this post is the button you must click to had your link.

 photo plaidandleather3_zpsdc8377c4.jpg

This is what I wore last Friday. I started to dress the plaid pants because I wanted to join with Anne at Spy Girl for 52 Pickup which theme this week is to combine as many plaids as you can in one outfit.
But I ended with just one plaid and realizing that the few plaids I have don’t go well with each other
.
It was another Friday 13th…. Have you spent it well?????
Are you superstitious about it?
Me, I have no paraskevidekatriaphobia (if you want to know more about it you can red this post I did on one Friday 13th).
I think someone said “Don't be afraid that your life will end, be afraid that it will never begin.”

As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let you down probably will. You will have your heart broken probably more than once and it's harder every time...

You'll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken. You'll fight with your best friend. You'll blame a new love for things an old one did. You'll cry because time is passing too fast, and you'll eventually lose someone you love...

So take too many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you've never been hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you'll never get back...

Yesterday we had a Christmas dinner party, so I had no time to prepare this post, that's the reason it's live later than the others Linky Parties.

Très Chic Style Bits #7 | pleather pants and pearls......

Once again time for our Link Up Party “Très Chic Style Bits”.
I want to publicly give thanks to two sweet and lovely ladies, Celia from Living My High Heeled Life and Jan from Fort Smith Stylista, for all the support they have been giving me about the Linky and for the encouragement to not give up.
At the bottom of this post is the button you must click to had your link.

We have been under such a bad weather, (photos above were taken during the week by some FB friends) with lots of wind and rain, that it was impossible to me to take some photos outdoors, all the week. And we haven’t any forecasts when it will stop. Storms in the Island can be tough.

 photo pleatherpants3_zps770e2a5e.jpg

Despite I started this blog with indoors pictures, I’m not very fond of them. The lights, the brightness, the shadows….. there are some factors that can ruin a good look with a bad photo.
But well, we must live with what we have….. if we can’t have it then let’s find another solution. So here I am with some indoors photos.

 photo pleatherpants2_zpsb389ba72.jpg

This is what I dressed (minus the rain coat) to go with Hubby in some kind of a date, dinner out, last night.
I tried to balance the pleather pants and booties’ rock vibes with the femininity of the pearls.
I always have been a hat’s lover and I have a few hats. However, living in a small conservative city, I usually felt weird when I wore a hat and most of the people stared at me. But lately I guess I feel more confident in wearing them.

As I’m wearing a hat maybe I’ll be in time to link to Style Crone's December Hat Attack, where Judith shows her amazing feathered hat.

Also since I’m wearing a few layers (does the inside cami also counts Anne? ;) ) I’m joining with Anne at Spy Girl for 52 Pickup which theme this week is Get Layered.

mustard and black...... my quilted pleather jacket.... what do our clothes say about who we are...

 photo quiltedjacket4_zps25d5492b.jpg

There’s a fabulous line early on in "The Devil Wears Prada":
“Fashion is not about utility. An accessory is merely a piece of iconography used to express individual identity.”
What do our clothes say about who we are or who we think we are? How does the way we dress communicate messages about our identity? Is the desire to be "in fashion" universal, or is it unique to Western culture? How do fashions change?
Much of what we assume to be individual preference really reflects deeper social and cultural forces. Ours is an ambivalent social world, characterized by tensions over gender roles, social status, and the expression of sexuality.
What we wear and how we look is our only way to communicate who we are to people without dialogue. Clothes are indicators of our personalities, likes, values and subcultures we may be a part of. We are in a constant stage of reflecting our identity and the only way we can do that in the physical world is through our bodies. Our bodies are physical representations for defining how we choose to be perceived as individuals.

 photo quiltedjacket2_zps3f2b4737.jpg

A quotation that I find interesting and related:

"Long before we're old enough to do anything on our own, we're old enough to dress ourselves. When we stand bewildered in a closet or a department store dressing room, what we're confronting is one of life's fundamental questions: Is this me? And: Would I like this to be me? Under what stretch of the imagination might this possibly be me? And finally: Who am I? ... Clothes are a constant act of self-definition ..."
