navy blue blazer always a classic with anything…

As you know I’m a high heels gal. Until last April I had no problems with that, because we had a free parking car outside my office’s building.

But then “they” took away from us the possibility to park there. So if I don’t want to pay to park all day (and having a huge parking bill at the end of the month) I have to leave my car in a park that makes me walk about 15 minutes to my work.

Hmmm… and the Portuguese cobblestone, despite all its beauty, is not the more appropriated road surface to walk with high heels... so that’s my drama with shoes lately…

Some details

Today I had such a tasty lunch. I ate vegetarian of course crepes, don’t they look good?

This is the first time that I’m linking up with The Pleated Poppy in What I wore Wednesday. I’m sure I’ll have much fun and inspiration from there. Go check it too :)

Lady Gaga's meat dress...

We know she’s “l’enfant terrible”, but I think this time she lose it.

Lady Gaga’s hat, dress and boots, which is thought to have been real meat, although that has not been confirmed, was a touch outré

As a vegetarian I’m still in shock!!!!

Well she sure got attention, but does she need attention that bad?

TO - 10/02 - ...October 1st, World Vegetarian Day... mixed prints on street style...

What we eat impacts the well being of ourselves, animals and the planet. Every year on October 1st, World Vegetarian Day kicks off Vegetarian Awareness Month. For those new to vegetarianism, it serves as an enticement to give meatless fare a try (even for a day) and learn about its many benefits.
Make a difference this October by inform yourself or informing others about the benefits of vegetarianism. You will be helping to create a better world because vegetarian diets have proven health benefits, save animals’ lives and help to preserve the Earth, not talking about spiritual aspects.
Have fun and make the World a better place!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Like I said lately I’ve been interested in prints. And I’m fascinated with some cool print mixes that appeared on internet from street style.
I really value people who have the courage to do that, because there are no rules, it’s a matter of sensibility, good sense and imagination for not look unpleasant.
So today I wore another printed piece. Just one because I’m not comfortable with mixing prints.
But today was one of those “four seasons in a day” weather. I hate it.
When I left home it was almost Winter, and it was Summer when I took these photos, but again it seemed Fall when we arrived home.
Oh well… that’s the Island weather.
TO - 09/08 - defining an already defined term – vegetarian… and fall forward…
Hello, my dear readers and blogging friends!!! I hope everything is great for all of you!!
Oh I’ve been missing you, but I think things now are becoming more on tracks…
Fortunately Mother is getting better of her breathing problems, and is already breathing without O2 and is recovering. I’m very happy about that as you can imagine.
So I hope I will slowly find more time to blog, moreover Fall is almost here and Fall’s fashion is so intriguing.
I’ve seen some editorials and I’m so into some trends… well taking the risk to disappoint some of you, I must say I’m loving dark colours (that I also can mix with those 80’s neon brights), and those shoulders… and the accessories… Well we’ll have lots of time to talk about that all.
On another note I want to thank everyone that left such nice and kind comments on my last post. As you have guessed by the title those pictures were taken on my vacations. I will post a few more to show you other outfits I wore.
As most of you know, I’m a vegetarian (more precisely an ovo-lacto vegetarian), and I also like to read some forums about vegetarianism.
I read this post and one comment that took my attention was this one that I would like to repost here.
“My issue is with people who eat fish and chicken and call themselves "vegetarian", a term which excludes fish and poultry as well and their derivatives (ex. chicken bouillon, fish sauce in Asian restaurants). Not only is it an ideological issue, it is a practical one. It makes it even more difficult for us "100% vegetarians" to find something to eat in restaurants. I have been to some restaurants advertising themselves as "vegetarian" whose daily menus consisting mostly of dishes with chicken or fish, greatly restricting the choice for "100% vegetarians". I was also told very adamantly by the owner of a Thai restaurant in Montreal where all the "vegetarian" dishes contained fish sauce that dishes containing fish sauce were "vegetarian" and that "vegans" were those who did not eat fish and chicken.”
The problem at this point is that most non-vegetarians, which we (vegetarians) are all responsible for correcting, one person at a time, aren’t used and it makes them certain confusion about how can people just “eat vegetables”. I truly think people are intrigued by another individual practicing vegetarianism, but for themselves their not truly down for the cause.
But it’s important to define the term “vegetarian”, because as it was said it just makes things more difficult…
The weather here has been crazy, lots of humidity (great for the hair... curly hair of course, not mine.. lol) and heat, it seemed we were suffocating, but today the temperature lowered a bit. I hope it will go on as it’s almost officially Fall.
I don’t like much today’s pictures, it was windy and I had to take them inside at my office.
But I was so “fall forward” wearing my new top from the new Fall’s collection of Mango, and I really liked it. I think the pictures do not do it justice.
Oh well, maybe next time…
“fabulicious” vegetarian food...
In one of my previous posts about vegetarianism I talked about the difficulties of achieving vegetarian food, but also about some good surprises, as efforts to make things to others.
So I’m going to present some pictures of delicious vegetarian food plates either in flavour as in presentation that Chef Mariano had made especially for me in the last months.
(click the image to enlarge)
1- Soy hamburgers with cream and mushrooms sauce and Greek rice;
2- Stir fry vegetables;
3- Eggplant with Soy stuffed;
4- Melon stuffed with Soy, vegetables and nuts;
5- Vegetarian sausages rolled in Chinese cabbage with blue cheese and vegetables.
So I wish to thank Mrs Zélia, Mrs Ana and in particular Chef Mariano for his “fabulicious” (fabulous + delicious) vegetarian food.
And I would recommend to my dear vegetarian readers if you ever come to the city of Angra do Heroísmo, in the Azores Islands, to go to “Pão Quente” and to ask Chef Mariano to make you a vegetarian dish.
As there is no menu list you would have to rely, but I can assure you that you would not be disappointed.
I’m not being paid to do such publicity, I’m only paying back the way I’ve been so well treated.
I'm sorry for the quality of the pictures, they have been take with the cellular.
holidays updating...
After this post I’ve been out there doing things.
After all that’s what holidays are for…
I’ve been to the beach and one of the days I took a great swim, since the water was in its best. After that the typical North Wind appeared and the days in Peniche have been chilly, despite the sun, and the nights are cold. So cold that we have to wear layers of clothes to get warm and walk by night.
I went to Fátima because it’s a thing I like to do when I come to mainland.
But I think I don’t feel Fátima as most of the people who goes there.
Fátima is a big energy field.
(Sorry, no pictures, it’s a very inner experience.)
I also went to see SATC, but to be honest I felt disappointed. Maybe I put my expectations too high…
Being vegetarian on holidays has been tough.
Well, being vegetarian isn’t easy, in small communities, and it’s always a fight.
But in a town that have such tourism I just can’t believe that I’m the only vegetarian that has showed. So it should be easy to eat in a restaurant.
I think Italian restaurants are the ones that give more options.
Also family and friends look at me and I know they’re thinking “She’s odd”.
I don’t fit in the model that people are used to know. They think it’s stupid and can’t understand why I don’t want to eat meat.
I don’t feel the moral superiority that unfortunately some vegetarians have propagated, and I don’t want to impose my belief, however...
I’m vegetarian and I’m proud of it!
These days the town big religious festivities are taking place, and holidays are almost about to end…
And today’s outfit is this.
I want to thank you all for the nice and kind comments in the post “sunshine on my skin…”
non-violence and vegetarianism
"My religion is based on truth and non-violence. Truth is my God. Non-violence is the means of realizing Him"
- Mahatma Gandhi
All human beings need to be healthy in body and mind. Health is wealth.
Non-violence and truth are very essential for the physical and mental well-being of all man.
Speaking the truth keeps one's conscience clear. It improves human personality. It keeps our mind free from guilt and worries. However, truth should be told pleasantly. It preserves friendship and commands the respect of others. This lessens strains and stresses and thus has a beneficial effect on the body too.
Non-violence is the basis for vegetarianism. All life is precious. All living beings have their place and role in the scheme of things. Thus we should protect and preserve life. "Survival of the fittest" might be nature's way but we should not interfere with nature. We should respect life.
Man seems to be vegetarian by nature. Vegetarian diet appears to be more suitable to human anatomy and physiology. Recently, more and more people are realizing that vegetarianism is better for maintaining good health. We should eat fruits, vegetables, grain, milk, and milk products. We should drink pure water and fruit juices.
We should breathe fresh air. We should enjoy the outdoors, the sun, the moon, and the stars.
We are leading a mechanical life in a materialistic society.
To make the most of our life, we should try to strike a balance between nature and machines.
A god treat
Me and my husband, we habitually don’t lunch at home on working days. We usually go to a place where they have a buffet and we can choose, from several things, what to eat.
Some of you probably know that I’m vegetarian, which is something that, in our little community, isn’t easy to carry on.
It’s not easy because it’s complicated to get the goods vegetarians need to make the food taste good, and to give the body the nutrients required.
And if at home one can manage things, it’s more problematical out. It’s a small market, and the places owners aren’t open to take risks in something they can’t put up for sale.
Been back to the issue, generally I choose some salads and something more among what’s there. But it can be boring, eating almost the same every day, and I complain to the lady owner.
Yesterday we went there, and as soon as she saw me she told, “-Today I’ve something especially for you.”; “-Oh yeah?”
Well, she ordered the cooker to make a Soya recipe just for me, and it tasted so good.
Besides the good food taste I felt so incredibly treated.
That’s the duality of small communities.
Though it can have some limitation, there are the people efforts to make things to others.
Been vegetarian…
“If a person does not harm any living being…
and does not kill or cause others to kill-
that person is a true spiritual practitioner.”
-Dhammapada (The Buddha)
There are many reasons why people go vegetarian, from health to ecological and religious concerns, compassion for animals, belief in non-violence, for economic reasons or purely because they dislike the taste of meat. There are, also, many different forms of vegetarianism.
Me, I’m an Ovo-lacto vegetarian, who occasionally eat some seafood. Well, because of that, strictly speaking, I couldn’t tell that I’m a really vegetarian. But it’s so occasionally that I’ve no problem in telling that I’m vegetarian.
One might ask “Why? What are your reasons?” I would answer “That’s a life Philosophy!”
We’ll be back on this…. I guarantee!
