Très Chic Style Bits #11 | my trip to Paris..... what I wore.... third day....

I’ve been thinking about our Link Up Party and realized that everyone who make the effort to link needed, besides the exposure gained for whatever you've been working on, to be featured in some way.
So, starting from now, I'll be pinning and sharing links throughout the week to my Très Chic Style Bits board on Pinterest!
I’m also thinking about doing something in Google +, but I’m not sure if it’s going to work, so we’ll see…. :)
Oh…. and it will be live until every Saturday.

********************
As some of you know, last September I made a trip to Paris and I started a serial posts about it, but never ended it.
If you’re interested about it, you can read here and here.

So on third day it was again time for celebration. It was Brother-in-law’s Birthday and we celebrated it. Another unforgettable day…..

Très Chic Style Bits #6 | faux fur vest and plaid shirt....

Time for our Link Up Party “Très Chic Style Bits”.
Once again I want to thank very much to all the lovely bloggers who linked up last week and I hope you will show in this week and that some other bloggers will join us.
At the bottom of this post is the button you must click to had your link.

The temperature dropped down and I thought Friday was a good day to wear my faux fur vest. I throw under it a plaid shirt and this is the result.
Of course I wore an overcoat, because vests and I, we don’t have a good relation. I love them, but I always feel cold in my arms.
I semi tucked the shirt and add up a nice necklace (not very well seen in the pictures) to give the look a more polished vibe, since it is a bit casual.
It was windy when Hubby took the photos, as you can see in my last picture, so my hair was a mess.

Today is the anniversary of my Father’s loss.
He was always there for me through both the good times and the bad
He was always there to laugh with, or to help me when I was sad
I remember his arms around me, loved the way they always felt warm
With him by my side I completely felt no harm
I remember all the things he did to make my life worthwhile
I guess I’m missing him more than I usually do with this heart of mine

Thanks for being the best dad a girl could ever find
I still miss your smile, Dad…..
May the light be with you!!!

Très Chic Style Bits #1 - Business Dress Codes.......

I’m so trilled and anxious (and a bit afraid) with the first Link Up Party Très Chic Style Bits”. If you want to participate, which I hope so, it’s very easy. At the bottom of this post is the button you must click to had your link.

Today I decided to talk about Corporate Dress using a post I wrote many time ago.

As we all know first impressions count. If your goal to getting dressed for work is to project a professional, competent image, regardless of your employment level or career path be sure that getting dressed for the office doesn't mean leaving your personal style behind.

The dress code has nothing to do with fashion. It is about making workers feel more confident, more professional.
However, despite most companies don't have specific guidelines about what to wear to work, some organizations encourage employees to dress according to some “Business Dress Codes*, which are:
Formal Business Attire- For women this constitutes business suits (a matched skirt and jackets) and, in most workplaces, pantsuits (matched pants and blazer). Closed-toe shoes (no sandals), blouses, hose and conservative hair, jewellery and makeup are expected.
Corporate Casual Looks-Working women have interpreted this to mean everything from shorts to sundresses, but in its most literal sense it means "smart business." Dressy pants and a blouse, sleek jersey knits and skirts and tops are all examples of corporate casual. Denim, T-shirts and flip-flops are only acceptable in the most casual of work environments.
Casual Friday - Depending on the business, this can mean anything from corporate casual instead of formal looks or "Wear your company logo polo and jeans." If in doubt, ask a superior. One of the best clues to company dress codes is what your boss wears.

Colour plays a big part in professional image. Traditional career colours include red (aggressive), navy (trustworthy), grey (conservative) and black (chic). Most of these colours work well in pantsuits, skirts and shoes and mix back with softer feminine colours that are appropriate like ice blue, lilac, soft pink and ivory.
*information found on about.com: Women's Fashion

Fortunately at my office we don’t have a formal dress code, (despite I have my own office dress code), and so we can play with corporate look as with casual look. Or also mix them… which is great, because in a way the sky can be the limit…. Well with some limits…. Lol

And here is what I wore last Friday. I had to take my pictures when I got home, because I forgot my camera but anyway it was raining, so I couldn’t have taken them outdoors.

yellow and red, a statement combination....

Today I had to dress myself in a rush with no time to think much about the look.
It turned a simple outfit with some lack of accessories but yet the colours helped to make it vibrant.

I have been in such a bad mood…. I just feel like complaining, complaining, complaining… so it’s better that I stop writing or I’ll start to complain…. Lol

navy blue blazer always a classic with anything…

As you know I’m a high heels gal. Until last April I had no problems with that, because we had a free parking car outside my office’s building.

But then “they” took away from us the possibility to park there. So if I don’t want to pay to park all day (and having a huge parking bill at the end of the month) I have to leave my car in a park that makes me walk about 15 minutes to my work.

Hmmm… and the Portuguese cobblestone, despite all its beauty, is not the more appropriated road surface to walk with high heels... so that’s my drama with shoes lately…

hate/love feelings.....

Right now I’m having a love/hate relationship with my blog, so today when checking some blogs and found this article “Why I Hate My Blog” on IFB, I had to share it with you.
I think it’s amazing and I feel so related to it because it voiced all the things that I feel about my blog but don’t complain about for many reasons….. I really recommend reading it.

Those of you who know me a bit better already know that I do l.o.v.e hats, (the other ones by now know it).
And I have quite a few hats, but I don’t wear them much because I feel bad when people stare at me just because I’m wearing a hat. I live in a small city, a bit traditional where when someone appears with something not common everybody looks.
But this year I feel braver about it. And I’m preparing to start wearing more my hats. Here is one….

el caballo y la herradura....

A title in Spanish meaning “the horse and the horseshoe…” in English or in Portuguese “o cavalo e a ferradura…”
Here we use to say that a horseshoe gives good luck, I don’t know if it’s also used in other places….
Well all I know is that I really need good luck now for all the things that I have to do at the office and at home. Besides I’m going on a trip to mainland next week with a short visit to Spain to attend a wedding.

in the urban jungle…....

Over half of the world's population now lives in the urban jungle. One environment that's been made by us for us - the city it refers to its streets, alleys, subway system, inner-city neighbourhoods, playgrounds and schools. Usually a metropolis characterized by densely packed residential buildings, businesses and a decaying industrial sector.
In the 1970's, the urban jungle was referred to as "the street". Also known as "the concrete jungle", the city is built to keep wild nature out - but nature can't be pushed away. People are starting to realise that nature is key to our continued survival. The human planet is starting to realise that we'll only survive if we protect nature.
So I wore my black and white animal print to camouflage myself in this jungle……

Talking about something different have you noticed that I changed my motto?????

what Monday had in common with Tuesday…..

Apart from work (lol) a green piece was something I had in common in my Monday’s and Tuesday’s outfits.

Monday with the pants and Tuesday with the belt, hmmmmm….. should I decided that it’s green week and wear everyday a green piece…. I don’t think so, but it’s an interesting idea to do someday, a week with a theme.

Like I’ve told you in my last post I’m still thinking about Forgiveness and how it approaches an exercise…..

Hope you’re having a nice and blessed week.

here comes the sun.....

Another 2 in 1 post…. I mean two looks just in one post now because I have no time for more.

Yesterday the sun started to peek and the feeling that good weather might come was great to dress bright colours, like my green pants, paired with pastel, my light pink blazer.

Today we had such a nice day with the sun shinning at last. I had just the wish to wear my new Westrags white blazer.

I just hope the sun will last and will make the temperature goes up, because I have a friend’s weeding this weekend and my outfit requires the hit.

the more I see, the less I know...

Yes, I’ve been hidden…. Why???

Well, mostly for two reasons:

I’ve been sooooooo busy at work that every other thing I do requires much more energy than usually (and it’s not going to end soon);

Also I’ve been with what somehow I could call an existential crisis. I feel that collectively we are here to develop and evolve. As individuals we have different talents and abilities which first of all, we inherently need to express, and secondly are able to contribute to others. We all have something to offer ourselves and each other, and that's what I think we're here to do. We're here to evolve, express, experience and share. However I can't see a way forward from where I am. So this makes me feel bad with me at many levels!!!!

And I just want to be in my shell…

Meanwhile my dear blogger friend Jesse Noe Mendez tagged/awarded me with ~ Staffetta dell'amicizia ~ . Thank you so much my dear friend. I will do a post about it (I don’t promise when….)

Well, the weather has been very good (better than in summer), so today I did like the snail……. catching some sun….

Oh and showing my new cat eyes sunnies!!!

that’s the way it is….

Hello my dear readers and blogging friends. It’s been a while…

I’ve been too busy at the office and it changes all my routines. Besides I feel much more tired like yesterday, when I arrived home I just lay down on bed to rest “a bit”. When I find myself it was already 1:30 am of today.

I wish I had more time to check your blogs;
I wish I had more time to write my posts;
I wish I had more imagination to get my looks;
I wish the weather would help;
I wish…
I wish…
I wish...

I wish so many things…. But the truth is that life is just the way it is!!!!!

I let myself seduced by a Westrags’ jumpsuit…

I bought this jumpsuit by the time I did this post… can you imagine, they aren’t selling it anymore.
But it has been a great piece to wear with this terrible hot and humid weather we have had.
